Several years ago, might have been a Thursday, I was watching an epic Eugene rant. Thought to myself "hmm...this man needs to get some Roja, take a sniff, smile, and be done with it." Excellent video. And the points made by your guest, if people listen closely, are refreshing to hear. Take care and hope all stay safe and healthy.

Yeah I've heard about all the Robertet gossip but the way I see it is that they source the materials for roja and he creates the scents. People forget that perfume is mass produced, it's not as if Roja watches over every single filing of every bottle, even with the exclusives that have 100 bottles or so. For sure they need to mass produce a formula Roja creates and make sure there are enough raw materials to go around. People instantly forget this when criticising Roja and they should really understand how hard making a perfume really is. Roja is awesome at what he does, he uses expensive materials and anyone questioning this or having an opinion otherwise accusing of materials not being good or Roja being fake etc, imo, knows nothing about perfumes or how they are made.

I own two of his Parfums colognes. Danger and Enigma. They are absolutely beautiful, and excellent quality the juice and the bottles. I got a free 7.5ml discovery atomiser of Parfum de la Nuit 3. It is stunning as well, a masterpiece. But I am not sure I would have the stomach to pay £995 for a bottle. Even at half that price I would be hesitant. But if you have the money and money is no object then it is one heck of a fragrance, wow. Danger does smell similar to Guerlain Heritage. BUT it is better quality and slightly better blended. I think this adds to the performance and smoothness. I can tell which is more expensive, which is better quality. I am a Guerlainophile and I love Roja Parfums. I think he is making some of those Guerlain greats but how they should be, in light of the LMVH takeover and how watered down many Guerlain fragrances have become. Take Mitsouko, Diaghilev is a better Mitsouko, or is it just how the vintage Mitsouko extrait used to be? I think Roja is making the best most luxurious perfumes as he is a Guerlainophile himself. He worked for the company for a long long time and knows more about the company than most of the family, allegedly. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery and Roja is taking inspiration from what Guerlain used to be. He used to wear Mitsouko as his signature scent for years. Until he noticed it had changed and wasn't the same. So he made himself Roja Haute Luxe. I personally wouldn't own a bottle although it's stunning. I think it is so expensive as only 250 bottles are made each year. It's not mass produce so is more exclusive, and hence pricey. I think there is a lot of hate towards Roja, but have these people really smelled the quality or are they prejudging. Fragrance like Chocolate or wine used to be luxury. Guerlain Vetiver was a luxury but now is available for £30 for 100ml. People like mediocrity and more money in their pocket. I know many who will buy 10 fragances that all smell like shower gel for £80 a bottle. That's £800 worth of fragrance that all smell meh and boring. For that they can buy a bottle of Diaghilev. Which is much better, although in lesser amounts. That's my perspective
@kathrynimhoff3444 жыл бұрын
Diaghilev is the most stunning fragrance in my large collection. Absolutely agree....a perfected Mitsouko. The price point is too much of a bite from my wallet but I do treat myself to more generous decants from time to time.

Thanks a lot for this video, guys. It's probably the most verbose and articulate descriptions of a variety of Roja's creations in one video. Of all the fragrances you sampled, I only own Creation-E Parfum and have the Parfum Cologne version of Elysium, and they are both fantastic. The rest of them have all piqued my curiosity before, but now I'm almost certain I would love the majority of them. From your reactions, I think that Great Britain is the one that got my attention the most!

Great timing of this video as I've been wading into Roja decants and samples recently... And I've really been taken by everything I've come across.... Stand outs for me have been Fetish... Diagalev... Pierre de Valey 1... Roja by Roja... Musk Aoud... Elysium ... And was gifted a full presentation of Kuwait Aoud Parfum and it's simply stunning.... Roja is on another level... Unapologetic luxury and quality and complexity. Thanks for this Eugene. I would mind another look at some other offerings from the house ✌️

It’s considered a Fougere Elysium. Very modern man Fougere. I love it. One of my best summer scents. Great video. Great guest. Thanks for sharing this video. Oh I remembered that roja said that he still uses real oak moss. He said there’s something in Oak moss that caused it to get banned so he extracts the banned part of oak moss so he can use real oak moss. Roja has a channel and talks about a lot of great things.

Yeah, he takes on the cost of removing the allergen from oakmoss to use the real stuff. No wonder his perfumes are expensive. But I think it's great someone does this!

I bought a bottle of Enigma the winter of 2015 because of all the reviews mentioning a cognac cherry coke aroma. I dowsed myself blind using the controlled sprayer after quickly getting dressed post hot shower and I had to strip down jump back in the shower scrubbing it off for a half hour. I smelled like horse shit and wet hay or smelled as if I slept in piles of equine dung. I gave away the bottle on eBay within a week and a year later I requested a sample from Josie at Osswald’s out of curiosity and sprayed it on dressed before a night out in January and it was magical. I do believe my sense of smell matured over the year but I believe the fragrance needs not to be over sprayed and applied on dry body in cool temperature. Enigma has been one of my favorite winter night fragrances since my second experience. As far as Roja, I have to say his brand is no gimmick and I’m a fan of his work. Always a pleasure to watch and listen to your perfume talk and reviews.
