I agree,my favorite is that stained glass Wren going after the spider, how unexpectedly humorous! I am stunned at how much Roman history is in York, beautiful. The only church with a Roman connection that I visited was St Mary’s,in Beaumont,a few miles east of Carlisle. It originally burned down around maybe 1100 or something, and was rebuilt, using many bits of Hadrian’s wall. A lovely small modest church, with some of the most beautiful gravestones that I’ve ever seen.

That sounds like an interesting church in Beaumont. I shall remember that for future if I'm up that way! The Wren glass in the Minster is truly fantastic!

Try Hexham Cathedral at the other end of Hadrian's Wall, also cannibalised from the wall

Someone doesn't think so well of me. Not permitted to walk the wall, and making it clear with "no dogs allowed" signs... Hehehe. I really am well trained, my wife spent years making sure of that. Interesting pace I've not had the chance to visit, and clearly oozing with the Ouse, and outstanding history. One thing in particular really stood out for me was that fabulous huge door. What with all that iron laced all over it mast of made it a sight to behold. My grandad, and my all time hero were experts with wood, and so I hold an interest in excellent craftsmanship in carpentry. vast amount of the most impressive pieces of in situ wood work can be found in churches and British castles. Some of the dining tables are breath taking. I very much enjoyed that. Either a longer, more in depth episode, or perhaps a mini series would have been even more appreciated, by me any way. As you did with Constantine, went into a bit more history behind him. Don't let me tell you what to do with your channel. What you do is working well. Must be off, a little dog is letting me know she hasn't been out yet. Take care ladies. See you soon.

Highly recommended Graham! It was Lucie’s first visit! So much to see I think a long weekend what give you enough time to enjoy all the sights! Haha I’m sure you’re well behaved 😝 Rob might be able to enlighten you on the door! It was superb! Yea it’s a fine balance sometimes with keeping the content easy to watch than going super heavy with the history. We could certainly look at doing a mini series in the future! Even for us the history of a place such as York is a lot to wrap your head around 😂🤎

This tour was amazing not often do you see these ancient buildings and all the details of the bricks. The details of the stained glass windows were stunning along with the paintings on the walls. You made it so we felt like we were following ahead or behind at times. I look forward to your next adventure soon I hope ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜

I've visited York back in 2006 and remember the walls, but so cool to see inside Yorkminster! My favourite bit was the soaring gothic windows (not Roman I know). Really appreciate all your efforts to make this video, and for introducing Rob as well 👍

Oh my, this tour was wonderful!! I hope you know you could market these walking tours - tourists would love an outing like this. I’ve thought if I travel to Europe, I’d love to have a paid outing with a mudlarker or metal detectorist. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us.

Hello. I would love to contact you. I went to Scotland recently and discovered the beaches around North and South Queensferry as I had seen the Northern Mudlarks exploring that area. I found a few Victorian shards. I’ll keep watching your vlogs and when/if I come back maybe I can hire you for a short tour. Wishing you all the best!

What about the remains beneath the Minster itself? Parts of the HQ building, including some painted plaster. The stone coffins in the Multangular Tower have come from the present Railway Station site.

Nice video, filmed in crisp detail and in a nice subdued 'grey' light (was that the weather or a film production effect?). When I last visited the Roman Bath pub, probably in the late 1990's, there was glass floor around the bar area and you could look straight down at the old Roman stonework - is the glass floor not there nowadays?
