This is the demo that got me into MGS. I remember my family got Pizza Hut like right when we got our Playstation and they were eating and watching me play, and everyone thought MGS was boring because there was so much talking but I loved it. The aliases used in the game were due to many of the actors being members of the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG), a US-based Actors Union. Back before MGS came out, the rules regarding voice acting for videogames weren't yet clearly established in the SAG's rulebook. Many of the actors went under a pseudonym simply to avoid running afoul of the union, as the gig wasn't formally associated with them. David Hayter is a notable exception, as he decided in the end to be credited under his real name for the role. In MGS2 and onward, all VAs were credited using their real names.

This just unlocked a memory for me lol, I had this exact demo disc when I was younger and it was the first time I was able to play Crash Bandicoot Warped as well as Medieval and Metal Gear Solid. I didn't get real far into the MGS demo at the time, I couldn't even make it out of the first room and had no idea you were supposed to wait for the elevator to come back down lol, so despite the game scaring the crap out of me and finding it so hard I couldn't even get past the first room, I was absolutely fascinated by this series. My dad bought a PS1 from one of his coworkers, and they gave him this demo disc also. It was the only disc we had for a month or so. The ‘Sean Barker’ credit isn’t surprising. A lot of actors who were doing video game voiceovers weren’t sure if it would put their actors’ guild status in jeopardy during this time period because vocal dialogue in video games was still fairly novel in the mid to late 90s

Before the idea of having outsourced voice actors in Japanese games was more widespread, ex-patriates from the States or Canada, as well as other countries were there to provide voice talent in part-American voice recording studios in Japan, either with mixed results, or sometimes, intentionally bad (see the original Resident Evil).

@ no problem. I think what I did was go into tank hangar and back and forth to make items spawn again. But yeah. Get the max C4 and plant them. And if there is any to grab at heliport after using them all grab them too. Then just rapidly hit punch.

Pizza hut demo is the greatest demo ever 🔥🔥💯💯

pizza hut was amazing when this came out. there also weren't really online reviews or news or anything to see what's good or bad or coming up. You basically just had to guess what's going to be good. But even more amazing is how good the games were at the time. these are all legendary games... they take like 20 years to make now and no way you're going to have multiple legendary games coming out at the same time. the cool thing about ps1 too is how the graphics sort of look stylized together. so it's kind of like all these games take place in the same video game universe. everything feels completely isolated these days. But the xbox 1 and playstation OS menus and the demo disks somehow did a lot of magic to make things feel special I don't know if I'd even bother to download a free demo these days. Usually they feel like a waste of time

Demos of that time really do feel like time capsule for those who were there or just discovering it now. Its amazing how technology these days give you all the information but something was lost in having that self discovery when playing a game / demo for the first time with very little information outside of the instruction books or word of mouth. Thank you for sharing and watching Leet!

I’m gonna have to pull out my demo from the PlayStation magazine I got before the game came out just to see if it’s the same as the Pizza Hut one.

Go for it! Like I said in the video I had a completely different Demo Disc with same build so chances are it was on several other Demo Discs. Thank you for watching Shane!

Question. When trying to load the screen where the screen goes black, the disc spins in the top corner... what happens if you put the actual game disc in? Since its close to retail maybe it will load the rest of the game?

Dig the Jam Pack (volume 2?) menu music in the background early into the video.
@StormBreakerPirateАй бұрын
It’s actually the Pizza Hut Demo’s main menu music. But it might have the same music as Jam Pack volume 2? Will have to check it out in the future. Thank you for watching Warren!
