Great video! I loved the Steens Mountains the one morning when I met you up there. I can't wait to go back to the incredible place. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. And this time I will have my new camera with me!

STUNNING. Gorgeous, vast, historic wild locations testifying of the early stages of our Earth in the making. Superb filming, COMPOSITION, colours. And great music. Wish you many such interesting hikes, photos and films in 2023.

A truly sacred mountain & area for me. I hope after many years to visit it again in 2025. The trail down to WILDHORSE Lake seems in better shape than my last visit. Try swimming in it sometime. You may last 5 minutes, however lying next to it is memorable & dozing off even better. Thanks for letting the images do most of the ˋspeaking.’

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Steens Mountain truly is a special place, and I’m glad the trail to Wildhorse Lake has improved since your last visit. Swimming in the lake sounds is quite refreshing! I’m grateful for your kind words about the video; I’m glad the images could convey the beauty and serenity of the area. Wishing you all the best if you are able to visit in 2025!

Wow, thank you! Glad to help inspire and thanks for your kind words! One heads up: look at the wilderness boundaries for Steens Mountain as drones aren't allowed in the wilderness part. I thought it was all BLM land but it is also a wilderness area. From what I can tell, the wilderness area begins at the edge of the road. You can see this if you zoom way in on the digital map on this page: www.blm.gov/visit/steens-mountain-wilderness

Incredible footage of Steens Mountain. That drive is incredible. Goes from juniper forest to stunning canyons! You captured the drive really well also, those drone shots of you driving close to the top were stunning. Looked very green that time of year. Nice post!

This video shows your protector UFO at 4:00, from left to right with high speed and from 5:08, flying left side of your car following you. It is such a beautiful scenery with a beautiful piano music. You made and played that music? 20 years ago, I went to the east side of Steens Mountain and soaked in a hot spring in a desert.

I go into the Steens and Mahogany Mountain areas and the Catlow Rim and Valley to shoot celestial photography. The night sky as you know doubt found out is spectacular. One of the best Dark Sky areas in the contiguous states. How did you stay warm at night? And the swim must have took your breath away.

I went into the Steens in July 2022 when it was almost 100 degrees in Oregon. It was a nice break from the heat! I agree this area was incredible for astrophotography! And yes, the swim was quite fresh! Thanks for your kind remarks!

Steens Mountain is magical. Nothing else like it in Oregon. My absolute favorite. Be careful with your drone footage, it's a congressionally designated Wilderness area. BLM will drop a brick if they see this.

I should have explained the drone footage in my video of Little Blitzen Gorge was filmed directly above the South Steens Campground which isn't in the Wilderness Area.
@Zoomdak

Ah dang sure enough. I'm usually quite good at researching whether or not drones are allowed in a certain are or not, as well as respecting and "No Drone" signage. But I saw this all as BLM land rather than a specific wilderness area. Thanks for the heads up.

@@Zoomdak I did the same thing on my video "Big Indian Gorge". Someone in the BLM office in Burns DM'd me after I posted the video and nicely asked me to take it down. I edited all the drone footage out and apologized. I felt terrible, mostly because the footage was so beautiful.
