This video blows my mind! I taught in this school from 1974 until we moved up the street to 12th and Fairmount. One of the classrooms you walked through used to be mine. I used to take my kids up to the roof to play. I guess it is hard for viewers to imagine the place clean and full of life, but I can. I was there. Oh, fun fact - in some of the shots you can see the folding walls that we pushed back, accordion style, to make one big room to have assembly (we didn't have an auditorium).

This building will be renovated to assist homeless veterans and help them to get re-established in the job market and or educational and health assistance. I like the all-inclusiveness of the program. Help us get re-established back into the job market. This is a great idea being implemented! Finally, someone is showing some concern. We need more of these programs/projects across America.

Glad they'll be doing something with the space. We live in the city and we're constantly trying to find places to explore/film. Thankfully we've hit the City Branch tunnel.

In this case being a grade school, I would assume for the board or administrators to take the time and make the effort to find someone to donate the books to is considered a waste of resources as it does not directly benefit the school. People are greedy and selfish, and I would imagine that's why the books go to waste. Though its possible efforts may have been made in the past, and local libraries and thrift stores are already overloaded with the previous volumes of the same books. Not sure.

I know that a lot of urban explorers use masks, one of them told me it's more because of black mold, although lead paint and asbestos should also be taken into consideration.

That roof seriously rocks. We had a roof top swimming pool in ours but they made us go 8 blocks away to another pool and never let us use it due to insurance issues. Stupid.

In America the text book business is a big scam. Students are often forced to purchase them and told they can sell them back to a book store at the end of the year, but the books are usually updated each year and quickly become outdated and practically worthless. It IS a colossal waste. At universities the books are often written by the teacher of the class. New books each year means more money. The old volumes should be donated, but I suppose with this practice no one wants to take them.

Prime example of what's wrong with America. First close the school, then the derelicts come in and destroy the place because they hate themselves, don't have any respect for themselves, so don't respect other property or even their own. Thanks for the video. Would appreciate it if you could tell why or even when the school closed

Have you ever run into people in these building that scared you? I mean like aggressive and chased you or threatened you? Are you scared when you are in there? Just wondering cuz when I watch your videos I get freaked that someone is hiding around a corner or there is a stray dog that might charge you. Do you bring protection…maybe a Taser or dog spray? I love to watch these videos they are so cool.

It saddens me to see old places with grafitti all over them especially abandoned houses. Some of which are hundreds of years old. It might just be me but I think its disrespectful to the people that built the places and the urbanex people that explore them. But sadly that's the price we pay for modern living.
