Exploring the Abandoned St Mary in the Woods Church. Morley. Leeds

St Mary in the Woods Church stands on a location that once housed a church in medieval times.
A building that dominates the skyline of Morley near Leeds, a devastating fire in 2010 has left the shell of the church in a state of flux.
The site is surrounded by history!
Gravestones and tombs dating back to the 17th Century, and a mausoleum to one of Morley's best-known family names means the site can not just be razed from history. Instead, it stands as a burnt out crumbling shell.
Hopefully, a positive future can be resolved before centuries of history are lost forever.

Cracking video pal. Im seeing more and more abandoned church videos and what shocks me is how they have been badly hit by fire damage! I get they are abandoned and yes you will get graffiti in many of them, but its how many have been 'torched' for want of a better word! I might be being dramatic, but it really is like christianity in this country is literally being erased in front of our very eyes.

Cheers buddy. Yeah, we've covered a few on the channel. I'm not cynical but I do wonder if some are torched to make sure they're not a future 'drain on resources' by owners ....although then they end up looking like this instead. 😒

2:28 Red Bricks on left noted.. Clearly there were alteration to this building at some point. Lots of other similar alterations using different bricks too.
