In 1919, the Warner & Swasey Observatory was gifted to the local Case Institute in East Cleveland, Ohio. Named after the company that manufactured telescopes and other precision instruments, the observatory initially housed a single telescope and dome. A larger dome and telescope were added in the 1940s. However, as Cleveland's population grew, increasing light pollution prevented the observatory from conducting effective studies, leading to its closure in 1980. The telescopes were subsequently relocated, and the abandoned property has since been reclaimed by nature and vandals.
