The National Trust rarely accept properties now. They are already stretched to maintain what they own now, because work is done properly; £100 million to repair a huge house’s roof is common. There’s a good chance this beautiful house is Grade 1 listed, so nothing modern can be done to it and it can’t be demolished. All that can be done is to leave it alone and let it slowly fall down, unless a billionaire saves it by restoring it sympathetically.

Sorry lads but I think some one lives there or your a friend of the owner. A strange mix of modern and old, the black heavy furniture could be Tudor but more likely Jacobean, which could be worth a bob or two, but there is wood worm in parts of the house, which will only get worse. A very quick look tells me there is not a lot wrong with the house, just needs a good overhaul and modernisation. Structurally it might be a different story, the fact that its cold means nothing , my over all concern would be the thatch which rots and will eventually allow access and egress to water and animals, shame you didnt go up the ladders perhaps to a attic which might of been of interest.

@ why abandoned and not just mothballed? This is still in ownership.
@bobthebinbag594924 күн бұрын
@@jonescrusher1 if “ mothballed” rather than “ abandoned” as you suggest,doesn’t this mean that the building should have been made secure so that nobody could get in ? This building has been open to anyone that knows about it for several years, there are things that have been taken out over the years ie, a beautiful rocking horse, some leather furniture, the rocks and fossils that used to be in the display cabinet, if these things have been taken by someone that “owns “ or “care-takes “ of this beautiful historic building, wouldn’t they have secured it so that nobody else could enter ? The grounds have been left to become overgrown, the actual building is finally showing signs of real decay and if left can only get worse which is such a shame. I think that the only people that really care about the building are the “ urban explorers” that go in and respectfully record its sad demise, they are not “ breaking and entering” they are at the very least just trying to make a real record of this once and still is historic beauty 👍😳
@jonescrusher123 күн бұрын
@@bobthebinbag5949 What you define as urban exploring others would call burglary. This property isn't close to appearing to be abandoned, electricity being a big clue. A single glazed building of this age is going tobe easy to enter, just because it's not under 24 hour guard doesn't mean it's a free for all. Of course, it's possible these 'urban explorers' actually had permission from the owner....
@bobthebinbag594923 күн бұрын
@ I agree inpart but the true urban explorers who just love to explore and record the buildings and grounds are definitely not “ thieves” yes there are those that will go in and trash the place and rifle through the house belongings to steal anything of value but they are “ burglars” and the scum of the earth for doing as such. The power being on happens in lots of “ abandon” buildings, no idea why it’s still on and who is paying for it, why the power companies are not chasing the “ owners “ up for payment, or cutting the power I don’t know, I’m sure if I wasn’t to pay my bill for months on end, they would soon cut me off for none payment lol I just enjoy watching the video content that the “ true” Urban explorers put out there. Happy NewYear, by the way 👍🥰
