Hi Recently I've watched a lot of van life videos. I have to say i enjoyed yours the most. You bring an honesty, authenticity and directness to the genre!! Happy trails

Don't let the scare mongers get to you. I have lived in my van for 3 1/2 years and have NEVER felt unsafe. I have also travelled all over the world to some out of the way places, Andes Mountains, jungles in Central and South America, all over India, and, once again, have NEVER felt unsafe or threatened. Just pay attention to your surroundings and leave when you feel uncomfortable. Promise, you will start to feel more comfortable in a month or so! Have fun!

Oh ya! I’ve now been in the van for almost a month and while that’s still a short time I haven’t felt unsafe either!

I have traveled and camped in most of the national parks in the north west US on a motorcycle. In the mountains please get some heavy duty bear spray and a compass! Also the mosquitoes are terrible when away from camping areas. I admire your wanderlust but be careful climbing alone. One last thing, before you leave your van for a hike leave a note inside the van saying what trail or direction you are heading in case of any injury you have while hiking. The park rangers take note of all vehicles parked and if for any reason yours doesn't move for a day or so, they will have a place to look for you. Good luck to you and stay safe! That part of the world is very beautiful!!

Your build video details are great. Couple ideas I have for you that you may already have. Storing food in zip lock or Plastic containers. Mice and bugs can get into cardboard or food bags. Also back into all your parking spots so if you need to just pull away quickly , you can. Just some thoughts. Enjoy.

Possible suggestion. If you plan on being in an area w/o cell coverage and feel you will need maps, you can download maps when you have coverage and then you can use said maps in the future when you dont have cell coverage. Then can delete map when youre done to save memory space on phone

Dale Trayner you seem very honest and concerned with her safety. A lot of positive constructive criticism and safety tips ive seen from you. I have a tip for dish washing you might like ; I use a mix of about 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water in a spray bottle and paper towels. Use the paper towels to get the excess food off the dish, then give if a spritz of the mix, another paper towel to clean the final bits and presto... clean sterilized dishes !! It doesn't use that many extra paper towels, I use about a roll a week of cheap $1 paper towels. This method saves a lot of water, might even save the gas / time expense of going after water more often, I am very impressed with your van build and common sense approach to living the "van life" !!! Peace

I lived in a travel trailer for 6 yrs. it was an education. It wasn't easy. But it freed me up in many ways to do things I couldn't do living in a house. I look back with many fond memories. But I'm grateful for not having to empty grey and black water tank. My ref died twice in those years cuz those appliances are not meant to run 24/7. The trailer had water damage from the previous owner so I put my foot through the shower floor once. Very expensive to fix, so got a cheaper fix that left it not so pretty but it worked. But I had the best front yards ever! No maintenance by me needed. I wish you lots of joy as you explore. Lots of warm places to go in CA for the winter. BLM land is free to camp. Many towns along the pct offer pay showers. Hope you get to experience many lovely adventures in your van.

I started following your channel when I saw your van build and I was greatly impressed. You're a young woman who has her head firmly on her shoulders and so unlike the ones I see in your age group who are mostly airheads more concerned with their duckface selfies and outfits for the day. And that's like a breath of fresh air. I also appreciate the fact that unlike other female vanlifers I've seen, you keep it real. The most I've encountered, and they have the highest follower/subscriber count are often ones that just like to use thumbnails of their bikini shots, looking all put up with the perfect makeup and tan, being so hyped all the time, lacking character and genuine personality. Keep this up. BTW, maybe you may want to download this app called maps.me as you can use it even without internet or mobile connection. It has helped me a lot in my travels in South East Asia.

It is great that you are able to do this at such a young age. I'm in my 20s and am planning a few-month trip. I live how you are honest about van life and are not trying to glamour it up with filters and over the top editing, etc. Van life is wonderful, but like you said, it isn't for everyone. I absolutely love how you talk about gratitude and how you encourage people to not live through you, and to see the good in their own lives. These are some amazing lessons to learn, especially at the point in your life that you're at. You are wise beyond your years! Stay safe and have fun

I'm glad to hear you say, "I'm not sad here," because you seem sad to me. I thought maybe you were homesick, and the experience inevitably falls short of the dream until you find your pace and the dream renews itself couched in the real world. I still think it must be exciting to finally take your van on the road after all that work you put into it, and you're having so many first-time experiences too. Good for you. I don't know why you were whispering so much -- I gather someone else was camping nearby, but a normal tone of voice wouldn't carry far outside your van. Besides, I can't hear you. Happy trails!

Heads up: We were just tent camping in Vermont and had mice enter our car through the engine compartment and destroy our food supplies. With the cooler weather on the way, the mice are seeking shelter and looking for food sources for winter. One of the best parts about living in a van for me is meeting like-minded van dwellers at the free campsites. Climbing sites like the one you were at are the best because you will find partners to go climb with, and they always have funny adventure stories to tell at the camp fire. I see a lot of comments saying "be careful, don't trust anyone." Van life can be the loneliest thing in the world if you don't put yourself out there. Check out "one chick travels" on youtube for some inspiration.

My wife and I have been to Mount Rushmore three times. BTW great message on living your own life. Also I noticed that you do most of your filming handheld for these types of videos, and if you are considering making more like this (which you should since this "Day in the Life" style is really interesting to watch), I would highly recommend getting a gimbal for your camera. If your van has a hole for an adapter to hook up a device, you can go into walmart and buy a dual ended headphone looking cord. I don’t know what they’re called but you hook one end into your headphone jack on your phone and the other in the stereo unit. I do this in my car all the time and I play audible books or podcasts, or familiar tv shows that of course, I can’t watch but I can listen to. I only do that with shows where I recognize the characters voices. But anyway if you do this, just make sure the volume is turned up on your phone and then adjust it at at the stereo volume. I hope this works for you.

I'm thinking mabey what u could do is get one of those spring loaded shower polls and mabey sew those blinds u put up to pocket them to go through the poll. U could use the tension poll to put up against those wooden beams I seen on either side of the van. Or even just a using a bungy cord to stretch across.

No way! I actually didn’t/don’t go there but my step sister did and she got me the shirt haha! But I will definitely be going through northern Cali in the next few months so we should definitely meet up! Feel free to email me :D

When you're in the van for several hours like this video and you eat and drink and chill out then go to bed. Where do you go to the restroom if you're stuck inside while others are sitting right outside your window for hours at campgrounds?

hi ive watched a lot of van life vlogs from different posters and im not really a fan of the usa van life vlogs as they seem to be all nice nice and all is good and great places to visit no problems etc etc but yours is so different i think its all about your honesty as to the real side of van life the side that is not really talked about that keeps me viewing your vlogs... im in england and also have a part converted van but dont live in it full time but i can totally get everything you are saying and can honestly relate to all of it you have so much open ness truth and honesty in what you say and that makes for me anyway these the best van life vlogs to watch on youtube wishing you all the best and safe travels

Cut a few pieces of material in the shape of your magnets but 1/4 bigger, sew them to the tapestry with the magnet inside. No more lost magnets! That's what we did :)

I want to be able to use the tapestry later in life :)
@mjmorro77576 жыл бұрын
@@AnnasAnalysis it's not permanent, the pieces of material for the pockets are not cut from the tapestry and loose stitching is easily removed later. But I understand, it is a nice tapestry, keep it that way :) Stay safe, venture on!

Me and my dad have decided as a bonding project that we are going to convert a van as I want to travel and thought it would be a great learning experience by the way turned 18 a week ago

Love the beautiful nature shots! I hope to travel like this oneday! Can you make a video on how you stay safe while hiking alone and living in a van? I have watched videos on this topic before but would like to know your tips on this subject... thanks!....When I go hiking I always have bear spray on me and I text a friend where I am going and when I get back from my hike. Also a tip on van life camping that I love is park your van so where if you have to start the van in a hurry all you have todo is start the van and drive forward.... and make sure there are two exits for you to drive out of a camping spot. Being able to drive forward or backward if needed.

just an idea, maybe you can get some curtains on racks so you dont have to store the window covers? awesome job though!

That wouldn’t work in my van and would be way to hard to install.
