Episode 311 : Season 10 : New Zealand - Aotearoa
Hello Friends,
On this episode I head off for a week of cruising with my friends Dale and Katrina onboard their 50ft Catamaran, SV Womble. After weathering the cyclone, with a forecast of lovely weather ahead, we were all ready to get out there and see some of the beauty of New Zealand.

James, the SV Womble family seems like really nice people! Every time you showed them there had smile. Even when the gent was conducting boat projects he was smiling. This is the type of friends I need.

I've been absorbing sail-cruising videos a lot lately, seeing if I might actually go myself after many years off the water. Most of this viewing centers on boats themselves but in seeing this content I'm struck by the subtle but tangible difference at Sailing Triteia. There is a difference; a much more film-like quality to your work, James, that seems to stem from the more genuine approach to the lifestyle, experience, and pursuit. While so many channels go completely overboard trying too hard, and so many others fill my 50" screen with loud faces saying not much of anything at all, ST is always relaxing, engaging, and somehow more vivid. ST is both low-key and invigorating, which is not just unusual for the genre, it's genuine film making, even as genuine and understated as the channel is. I just love it, and I hope you keep doing it as long as you please, which I guess could be for years. Who knows, maybe the support community feels the same way and keeps you in boats and dreams indefinitely. I know I'll be aboard. This is the best sailing channel I know of.

Thank you for this very kind and well considered review of the channel. 🙏🏻 I just make videos that I would enjoy watching and figure there are some others out there that would enjoy the same as well. Thanks again 👍🏻

James, I'd like to compliment you. At first I was taken aback by the guages and the tats. I had negative thoughts. I kept watching. Yours is one of my favorite channels now. Your more "real" for lack of my poor wordsmithing. Thank you for what you do and what you have taught me about acceptance others choices. On a side note, a jillion years ago I followed the Dead around for a couple hundred shows and probably looked weird to those I encountered. Should have learned something then...

Catamarans have their place, every design has its good and bad points and every boat is a compromise. One thing about cats though is you will need deep pockets relative to the same size monohull.

@lifeliver9000
@lifeliver9000 Жыл бұрын
@@SailorJames technology is ahead of that theory. You don’t need heat just light these days. So arctic etc also fine. In fact a lot of the bases there are solar. A bit of investigation and you will see people circumnavigating the world solar only no generators etc. no sail cost and maintenance or effort. No motor repairs fuel and noise. Tell me a sail or launch motor that gives a 10 year warranty like silent yachts offer on their cats.

@lifeliver9000 Жыл бұрын
@@SailorJames you obviously don’t have any knowledge of technology. Looks up silent yachts. Or top 5 solar yachts 2023. You have large cats that can sail day and night up to 19 knots with their own water makers and electric tender charging electric fridge freezers TVs. Never have to fuel up or land only for food. The future is here and like the telephone will only get better month after month year after year. I remember hearing about EV cars thinking so limited won’t catch on. Now t drive one with 600km ramge and it’s already out dated by 1000km range. It’s really a battery tech race and there are some amazing batteries coming up.

@SailorJames Жыл бұрын
He is a con man. Boat was in fine condition and he refused to answer questions about the boat, gave the dog away as soon as he was “rescued” him nor the dog were thin. Also there is info on Reddit talking about how he previously claimed raw food cured his cancer
@davidthesailor5022

@@SailorJames definite con man. He admitted to making contact with his sister twice a day using is Garmin iReach Messenger. His rig was intact and he had his sails so even if he'd lost all his navigation equipment as claimed he could still have sailed east back to land using the sun during the day and heaving to or drifting at night, assuming he had to hand steer. Not sure how he intended to reach French Polynesia in the first place.
