Exploring the CRAZY Elevators at the Congress Hotel, Chicago Il

Rumors say that this hotel is haunted, and it definitely has that vibe! If you are of the adventurous spirit, this hotel may be a good choice for you! It's in a great location too, in the heart of downtown Chicago, right next to Millenium Park!
Filmed with the infamous Jacob Bachta (TheElevatorChannel) in March 2016, who received a tip that this place had some, um, "interesting" elevators!

What a cool place!! Nice video. The first elevators (the ones that were modded by US Elevator) have a ceiling (which you guys commented about) that I've only seen in 1960's Westys. TThat would be my guess as to OEM on those...

I rode a vintage Otis elevator it's a traction and it is very fast but had the light displays

There's a hospital in lacrosse WI and they have four Otis elevators that have been modernized but on floors three and the lower level they have the touch control call buttons but the buttons inside the cab's are push buttons. They all have digital displays. And have the original bell and wall indicators on the floors

we stayed there this past November for my bday . and we had 3 anomaly in our room we have it on video + we had an Experience on the 11th and the 12th floor . love it I hope we get to go soon :}side note the Bears lost that sunday :{

I've actually stayed here. one of those online deals. I liked the location because it was in walking distance to a lot of stuff, but the rooms there were so tiny. It looks pretty for the most part, but it feels like an illusion to mislead you. Glad you captured the different elevators and the weird layout. Did you guys visit any of the museums other than Science and Industry?

+Melissa Duckett Jacob was only there for one day, so that was the only one he went to. I went to Shedd Aquarium, Willis Tower, a concert, walked around Millenium Park, and of course rode the L!

I never play on elevators that "act up." And NEVER stick your hand in there without being prepared to have the door close on it! That would be bad. If you just wave your hand in there, it SHOULD open. I'm personally, not at all confident at being on any elevator where they won't spring for a can of WD-40. Being fair and logical, your chances of being eaten by an escalator are 37 in a year, including dumb accidents like the woman in China being chewed up completely and the decapitated woman in Russia. Both were with their young kids who were untouched. Elevators cause about half that number of deaths. But they DO exist. Usually with workmen or someone doing something stupid. As for China, (eye roll) they released a safety video after all their citizens freaked about that woman being chomped to death. There's got to be about a dozen safeties, NONE of which were working that day. Particularly the one where the plates aren't supposed to be able to open, but that's got one shut-off. Resistance and step separation are another 2 shut-offs. That apparently aren't used in China... after that, nobody is afraid of CARS (35,000 deaths yearly) or regular stairs, which kill 1,600 a year. That's why you have to LOOK for the regular stairs in any store. You're less likely to get hurt in elevators or escalators, by a long shot. Although the accidents are nasty, they're NOT like "Final Destination," although the elevator one might very well have been a lot like FD2. Even happened the same way. A mirror image, in fact. Exactly reversed. Too bad the FD movies got so ridiculously impractical in the deaths.

5 minutes in, "Where the crazy part??" some parts look very raggedy and not well-maintained. I mean, the button is nasty and paint peeling, simple fixes...unlikely I'd be playing on those elevators, myself...yeah, floor lights not working and so on. Uh-uh. Taking the stairs, thanks. Probably worse that dirt and peeling paint wrong with them. That and acting funky...that they won't buy Acrysol to remove the tape adhesive also makes me nervous, and think it's a failing hotel...bring in Anthony Melchurri!

I know you posted this comment a while ago, but I wanted to give some insight anyways. Chicago Congress Hotel is a very old building. It was one of the many home of Al Capone when he lived in Chicago. Other gangster also took refuge there too whenever they were conducting business. Because of Al Capone and other gangsters using the hotel to conduct their business, a lot of deaths ended up happening. Some of the rooms are actually sealed off from the guest. Rumor has it that in one of the rooms on the 6 floor, a man was killed and buried inside the room, and hotel management ended up sealing off that room completely. Natural deaths and murders sadly happen often in a hotel's history. Sometimes the hotels can't always control what happens inside, which is why a lot of older hotels tend to be haunted.
