Yes I agree. This is one way to help nail down where the location of the original money pit shaft.

Jeff, this is interesting. I don't know if this will help but there was a 1958 program hosted by Bill Barrud about the Oak Island Treasure that has amazing video/film of Oak Island including the actual Money Pit. What you said about it being up "on the hill where the crane sits" ties in exactly with what the narration said in that 1958 program with accompanying video, as follows: "... and then as we crested the rise, there it lay before us, the Money Pit itself". The video of the Money Pit location is excellent. This is a long-forgotten show that I wanted to bring to your attention and it is uploaded here on KZbin. It even has 1958 film footage of the H-O stone and also footage of the last remaining (dying) non-indigenous Canopy Oak Tree that was on Oak Island adjacent to Smith's Cove at that time. Of course, all of those Canopy Oaks are gone today. I hope this information is useful! -- John L.

Yes it is and thank you John. I always appreciate suggestions such as this. I believe I have seen this video but I need to go watch again. The main problem with that though is that the true location of the Money Pit was lost well before 1958. Let me watch it and make some comments after.

@@Jfree906 That might have possibly been older film footage that was used in that 1958 program. The narrator of the archival film in the program, Comdr. Iain Murray, specifically said that what was seen in the video was the Money Pit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the true location of the Money Pit was lost in the 1960's when Robert Dunfield bulldozed off the top of the island in the Money Pit area, but this was done way after the video in the 1958 Treasure program was made. -- John L.

Didn't Colin say the drill rig was up there on one of his recon missions around the island?
@Jfree90611 ай бұрын
Yes he sure did. We will be seeing this in the coming episodes!

Was that part of the 'digging up the past' series sponsored by Deluth Trading? Got an email with a link to the vids... looks like they are sniffing around a lot of the historic places on the island this year... very interesting

Yes that is what it was from. Digging up the Past.

I always said it was back behind garden area
@Jfree90611 ай бұрын
Yeah that surprised me when he said that. I was thinking it was up on the hill between the Garden Shaft and 10X

Did they never know about this before..? It definitely seems like they didn't because they've been searching in the wrong spot for so long, but I have to wonder how they never knew of this information, in that case.

They knew about the Smith house but I don't think they ever plotted it out in the Money Pit area before. They always used the locations of searcher tunnels and such to find the original MP Shaft. This helps in the search.
