Stumbled across this video. It's amazing how those fertility symbols have been preserved throughout the centuries. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Wish you two a lovely journey if you're still traveling.

It was truly stunning! Happy to be able to talk to the locals, sometimes a bit confusing and only older people understand Thai properly but is is very helpful 😂

That scarf making lady was probably born in 74 after the Vietnam war. Nice job on this VLOG

Thank you, Chris! She probably was. Many elderly people in the village have been through that terrible time though. Luckily they are taken care of by their families and living a good, peaceful life now 😊

In nov/Dec 23 I did a 20 day group motorcycle ride from my home in N Issan via Mukdahan to N Laos , it was great, just at end of rainy season so in places the road was challenging, destroyed by heavy trucks, we renamed Laos the land of a million potholes instead of elephants, we hardly saw any elephants. Also included a boat ride to camp overnight in the jungle after doing quite an exciting river tunnel ride dodging rocks, we continued up to Boten, the ex Casino special economic zone, now being rebuilt for Chinese families, numerous hotels under construction. On way back to Vientiane stopping for 3 nights in Luang Prabang, which was most enjoyable, could easily have stayed longer.

We also visited the plains of jars and the ultra secret airport, and the amazing caves where people lived , or should I say existed during the war, Laos being the most heavily bombed country ever, it was horrendous.

The caves we visited were much more developed and included schools, offices for the governors, even a jail anyone who got out of line. Sleeping and living quarters, amazing the people spent years in these caves. What the Laos went thru is incredible as you say if visiting keep this in mind, they are real survivors.

First of all, thank you for the long reply, we love seeing comments like these! "The land of the potholes" definitely lives up to its name haha. We had an unexpected encounter with one while in Pakse, resulting in a flat tire at night. Fortunately, the kind Laotian people came to our rescue promptly. We still have so much to see in Laos, like the plains of jars, which we're eager to explore on our next visit. We are considering travelling by motorcycle next time to have more freedom in our adventures. The resilience and strength of the Laotian people are truly inspiring, and our amazing experiences in the country are a testament to their hospitality. Laos is definitely an underrated country that deserves more recognition!! :)

Congratulations on your engagement! Good match. We’re traveling in Europe, but we’d rather be in SE Asia. Prices for accommodation are crazy. Greece, Milan a Nice. Next is Paris then fly home.

The engagement was sarcasm, in local culture it is not done to sleep next to eachother if not married/engaged. But with time it might be official :). Europe is amazing in its own way, perfect for roadtrips but definitely expensive! Enjoy your time, Greece is soo beautiful and a historical gem. Haven't even been there, yet. We'll be waiting for you here in SEA. Thanks for watching Chris, appreciate your support enormously! 😉
