I do love exploring a castle. Looks like they used local materials to build them, with a fair amount of natural erosion. I kept thinking I'd see Dr Jones pop up.

Yeah I prefer seeing the natural erosion , rather than it being totally rebuilt 😂

Wow Nimi, what a great day out! Quite impressive to see the ruins survive for so long . Thank you for taking us along with you. I'd have never seen these places without your tours.

Ahh thanks so much! I have recently switched to using my GoPro for 99% of the video so that’s probably why 😊

Nice video. All those structures looked like they were made from mud and clay. The lumpy pudding was probably the wash-out of ancient houses. I bet there's quite a lot of jewelry buried underneath.

Yeah I think you are right! I think a lot of stuff has been dig up and is displayed in some of the museums 😊

If those clay walls could talk... but most of the stories would be of the sad, dramatic kind; sieges, massacre etc. That part of the world has suffered endlessly from invasion and the bones of old forts litter the desert along the old trading routes that as often brought invading armies as traders. Thanks for taking us along.

Yes so many places have been destroyed and rebuilt hundreds of times after various invasions and wars! It’s a fascinating place 😊

So the Big Question is... where did the fortresses get their water? Climate difference? Also a Roman legionary fortress was 20+ hectares for 4-5k soldiers so 17 hectares for 2.5k was actually generous in personal space:)
