I cracked open my new Fiskars Stamp Presses in two different sizes (small: amzn.to/1Gd3IrN large: amzn.to/1QCJYJk). Come along as I explore how they work and what they can do!

Yeah, as a maker, instructor and designer, I have to agree that it leaves a lot to be desired. I got mine today at my wonderful local Christian Thrift Shop. It's a rare place that looks like a boutique and most of the items are well prices and good quality. I got mine for $2 and it looked like it was maybe used once. So I am happy with it. But like you, I would only rarely use it and not for much other than lining up.

i do have one, i have the compact one, and i love it, you get a better impression if you walk your fingers over the back of the stamp, because the mount is thin and has some give...works great for me

I'm surprised at your assessment. I go to an assistive living and rehab facility where the participants have limited dexterity. They use the stamp press because they can't hold the blocks well. Of course, I am giving their images a little extra press, but for the most part, we get great images. We do use a stamping mat underneath and are using photopolymer stamps and dye ink. I love that when using a stamp on a die cut out, I can wiggle the stamp till I get it in just the right spot. I also leave the stamp on the paper for a brief time to allow the ink to absorb before I remove the stamp.

What I do like about it (beyond the grid lines which are so important for a straight line bungler like me) is that there is some give to the Plexiglas (or whatever it is :-), so you can walk your fingers along and really press on all areas of the stamp. I have a disability and my fingers aren't that strong so this makes it much easier for me to get an even impression. I've heard that Tim Holtz's acrylic blocks are similar and he designed them specifically for a bit of "give." I'd love to see a test run of those as well!

such a walk down memory lane! I've had one since way back (and mine was a prototype as I was working with Fiskars at the time)... though I haven't used mine in years. Your review? Spot on. I actually always did better with the large vs small press but man I didn't like lugging around that big thing! ;) Where I recommend and have had the greatest success with this is for someone who regularly has to "re-stamp" (re-pressing with the stamp press is as easy as pressing down a second time) or someone who isn't able to hold a stamp block easily. My kids used it when they were little and learning - a great tool for them too.

I'm glad you did a video on this product. I was thinking about getting one. Now I don't think I will.

I have the small one, bought it after I saw many crafters using it in their videos and have said it was great. Well, it's okay. I have to press on the area where the stamp is to ensure better stamp image. It has the same effect as a regular acrylic block.

I have both, I mainly use the smaller one and love both of them. I use my fingers to walk along the stamp when using the stamp press, I get a great stamp this way. Hugs

I have the small one and don't use it as much as the acrylic blocks. I'm pretty messy and usually get ink on the plate as well as the stamps. Too much work!

I'm getting mine in the mail either today or tomorrow and it will be interesting to see how successful I will be :) I bought it mostly to use with my very big stamps as I can't get a decent impression using just my hands.

Gosh I wish I'd seen this first. I got the big one and I was shocked at the size. I got it because I have a couple of overlarge stamps that wouldn't fit on the small one but EGADS I have no idea where I will put this. I'm truly dreadful at lining things up ... I'm always stamping crooked so it does really help with that... if you have the room for it!

It'll be interesting to see how these stamp compared to the Misti and a DIY one. Like others who have left a comment, I've been thinking of adding these to my "wish list". Still will but just the smaller one.

I have a diy one, and it works fine for me! Of course I have never tried neither the Fiskars nor the Misti ones, so comparison is not possible, but I can tell you that I don't see myself buying the real thing as my homemade version works perfectly! I don't even use acrylic blocs, just the stamp press, if that helps you make an idea of how much I like the thing!

Liked the review. I have been wanting one of these. Now I am rethinking that. It won't work for what I would use it for. TFS!

ok I know this is an old video but I just found it after buying that darn big press... the tiny clear plastic feet on the "extra" plate fell apart when I unboxed it and now I have no idea how to put it back together or if it will work without them?!

Fiskar's stamp pad is a P.O.S.! It's probably the height of the foam that precludes a crisp stamp. The larger one seems like a total waste of material. Aaargh, hate that. (I've been looking for a 9 x 12-ish acrylic block to no avail)
