Today we're going to explore the history of Thurber Texas. Thurber is well known for its coal industry during its heyday. A Texas town rich in History only 75 miles west of Fort Worth, it's definitely worth a visit !

Whenever we traveled to Dallas/Ft Worth my mother always wanted to stop and eat at the Smokestack Restaurant. I haven’t stopped there at all since she passed away.

The New York Hill Restaurant on the south side of I-20 is good, too.

I think I was there when I was 5 years old. My parents were traveling west for a school reunion. I had biscuits at the restaurant and went out to the smoke stack by myself. 56years ago. I remember but never knew where. Less trees then.

@@ExploringwithAndre I worked in the big mainframe computer rooms, as the System Programmer from 1969-2009. Then Verizon bought MCI and shipped all IT jobs to India. So I ended up driving truck for the last 5 years till I retired. Drove from Alamosa, CO to Waco twice a week with potatoes. Then I went all over the country. Saw lots of things but could rarely stop. No time, and usually no place to park the truck. So I called it quits and stayed home. Had a couple heart operations and that slowed me down alot. I go to the gym but even that is tough. But I have liked your style of videos. Take a break, and do the fun ones. 👍 Have a good weekend with your family. 🇺🇸

I have been a Thurber several times. I was wanting to get one of those Thurber bricks for a souvenir but I was afraid I might get in trouble
