5:53 Very interesting point, Jack also beefs critics in the previous song "Ice Station Zebra" as people only interested in labeling art instead of really trying to understand its nature. Hahaha may be wrong in this but I see there the classical Nietzchean fight beetwen Apollo (the critics interested in categorization instead of creation) and Dyonosius (the artist that are only trying to add a puzzle of God and enjoy its glory). Of course critics (followers of Apollo) are just too afraid to win the mistress. Anyway great analysis 👍

4:36 IMO the line "I think therefore I die" is more directed towards the idea of anxiety, an how sometimes too much thinking can dissociate you from your own life. Like saying you are too worried and anxious overthinking that you are not living your life. That is a very common simptom in anxiety problems. Also anxiety problems have this cyclic and repetitive nature, that goes well with the theme of the song, because you cannot stop anxiety by thinking, that is the paradox that makes the fear go "over and over and over".

"Hollow body" could also be a play on words, someone who feels hollow on the inside might lend themselves to "wine belly perfidy"

Yeah I just heard Uberboyo discussing creativity and he quoted Jack White on how he makes music; “it’s not me making the music, it’s something else, I’m just the channel.” Now that’s the opposite of an existential crisis haha

I see that you subtly put the theme of the song into your own video, as I found myself wondering, over and over, why the god damned hell you had light blue text on a light orange background. Haha anyway, Jack occasionally uses different lyrics for live versions of his songs. Maybe it'd be worth giving a listen to any live performances to see alternative verses. Hollow body made me think of a person who is shallow, who is devoid of 'body', as in character.

I believe the verse about "hollow body" refers to musicians in general and their tendency to over indulge in alcohol and drugs. It's a cycle They fight that often ends in rehab after it's reaped enough havoc on their lives and the start anew.

This is a favorite of mine. For decades I have read about religions and philosophy, topics of personal interest. I believe this song is about god knowing his/her/itself and the struggle therein. It has been written, not my idea, that god creates in order to know what it is and what it is not and can really only know itself in that way. What's more, this relationship is a neverending and powerful creation in itself. In separating from the source, it is the soul's work then to return. It is a difficult job, much like that belonging to Sisyphus, and seemingly futile and self-punishing. "Hollow body, wine belly perfidy, moves like Isotta Fraschini..." there is a lot going on here. Humans are made of atoms which are mostly empty space. Yet we fill our lives with possessions, drugs, obsessions, ideas, etc. that distract us from who we really are. As a result, we live our lives over and over again not knowing who we are. Until, that is, someone does remember. At that point, humans have the ability to recreate themselves. The process of recreating will feel a bit like drowning, because the things we have clung to are no longer useful to us. A sure thing to get in the way of this recreation is the ego that cannot let go of what it thought it knew about itself. The one who breaks through into this understanding and is brave enough to speak out will be scorned, of course. We all come from the same source, therefore we are all gods. And authority and control simply will not allow us to "undo" what has been done to reach through to that understanding of ourselves. Just some thoughts. Certainly, not just my own.

Maybe hollow body could mean a hollow person, almost without meaning, drinking wine and soon to “die” (like Isotta Fraschini) and then finding themself basically being reborn over and over again. Kind of like the cycle of addiction

You didnt mention the number 3. Jack is obssesed with it. Third man records, his logo, even in the video a girl paints three lines on the wall, the whole video has only 3 main colours- blue, brown and white. In the song the lyrics is divided to 3 lines-groups. All of that cant be coincidential.
