Did he mention that Elora as a settlement was initially called " Irvine Settlement " and developed in Nichol township in Wellington County soon after the township was surveyed in 1819 ? Some military guy had served in the War of 1812 and then had gone off to India possibly to meet up with his merchant sailor brother who had a ship. They bought several miles of land in the township and rebuilt the settlement as Elora and were influenced by the basalt Ellora Caves of India. Makes sense if you think of the quarries in the gorge near the Grand river. Nice that you took the time to add a little history to your vid.

One of our absolute favourite places to visit as a family, It is so rich in history and nature but there are also some wonderful craft shops, book shops and cafes as well as frequent outdoors art exhibitions. If you ever visit Conestogo let me know and maybe we can do a mystery plant swap :)
