The environmental storytelling of this level is probably my favourite part about it! The mystery with the Maw was what the place was and what its main purpose was. The mystery with the Pale City was what happened to it, what caused everyone to become what they are now. With the Necropolis we already know what caused its downfall, the mystery comes from the people who used to live there and how they used to live. It’s interesting getting to see so much from this location, such as the Catacombs beneath the city. It’s filled with large beetles couldn’t survive on the surface (we see dead beetles around the Necropolis), but they seem to thrive living under the city. It’s also interesting seeing how the Dwellers have attempted to stop Monster Baby. As you’ve stated they’ve probably tried hanging up bodies to get her attention. We can also see that the Dwellers have made giant baby toys. They probably thought that those could distract the baby until they figured out a better solution. Those drawings of the mirrors reflecting light could be from the Dwellers, I see that being a last resort of sorts. Like they would have finally put together that light from Monster Baby’s eye is what petrified them, so they guessed that it could work on her too. All of these plans failed though. I’m looking forward to seeing more new stuff about the Necropolis and the game as a whole!

I think places in the nowhere that look like they are from ancient times exist simply because the nowhere exists since the day a child had it's first dream, and so many of those places would be created using the fears and wishes from children from many different eras, and since the nowhere doesn't work like our world, instead of evolving existing places, it simply creates more and more, becoming an amalgamation of human history.

Yup, I 100% agree. I actually had a section in this script touching on that idea, but ended up cutting it since it didn't really fit with my other sections...in retrospect, probably a mistake, since this video ended up being more literal than I intended. Oh well 🙃
@RETR0NIANАй бұрын
I’d like to add on that it also appears ancient cause it is, it could be that, as children come and go, a place will evolve to fit new fears, we do get over our fears, so it would make sense that the nowhere would need to adapt to that, so it could be that the dwellers could’ve been alive for quite a while, but as childrens fears evolved, the monster baby was introduced to change the necropolis so it can fit the new child’s fears. (Sorry if I’m restating what your saying)

I like the theory of Monster baby being a entity like the signal tower. With Sound of Nightmares, the existence of the entities being the most powerfull being or even part of the world itself is so cool. And with the audiobook, its possible that some of the monsters were also once human, but instead of dramatic experience bringing them, its their deeds and actions, what ever force is bringing these kids seems to be quite passive in its goals and seeks only to trap kids abd adults alike, either passivly or a purpose of giving a escape but in reality giving a eternal dream

I've had a thought recently about Monster Baby. The Maw and the Black Tower were created out of the need for Hunger and Escapism respectively. They just showed up one day out of nowhere. Monster Baby showed up out of nowhere to the Necropolis. So I think she may have been created the same way, although I'm not entirely sure what kind of need would have created her.
@RETR0NIANАй бұрын
i think entities like the signal tower are literally the lords of the nowhere, each being controlling its own sector of the nowhere, the unique eye design that is most heavily shown in the maw and signal tower is the illuminati like design, which im guessing represents that sector of the nowhere and the lord or entity in control of it, the spirals unique eye design is literally a eye inside a spiral, which can be seen on boxes in the candy factory. I don't think the monster baby would be a entity like the signal tower, as then it would probably have a TON of influence over the spiral and the nowhere, as seen with the signal tower, bending and controlling its sector, and its signal even spreading to tv's in parts of the spiral, though it doesnt seem to have much of an effect in other sectors, the monster baby is a really powerful force, and probably one of the most powerful medium antagonists we see in the game, but i don't think its something akin to the signal tower.

Yay! New video! Do you think LN3’s theme as a whole is wastefulness or overproduction? (Necropolis: waste of energy, Factory: waste of resources and sweets, Fun Fair: waste of time and talent)

Ooh that sounds pretty solid actually, especially after seeing the new Factory demo footage. Yeah I definitely think you could be on to something there...

My theory for how the ship ended up there: The Spiral itself may be a storm, or at least within one. Think about it, there seems to be constant wind flow in the Necropolis and downpour of rain in the Carnival (the Gloomy Factory is indoors, but perhaps there is similar weather outside). The ship may have been caught in the storm and pulled out of the water then flung into the dessert, this may also be why there are debris scattered around, from the landing impact.

Perhaps the city is an outdated remnant of before the 20th century, ancient kids definitely had trauma too. It was destroyed and separated from the ocean as it became obsolete.

Tho Necropolis looks like it was once a thriving town, its possible that the world just looks like it cause because. The Nowhere is a realm where thoughts and dreams are made physical. This means that what we see in Nowhere dosent fully make sense but all the aspects of the this world are somewhat connected to our world.
@RETR0NIANАй бұрын
it could also be that, as children come and go, a place will evolve to fit new fears, we do get over our fears, so it would make sense that the nowhere would need to adapt to that, so it could be that the dwellers could’ve been alive for quite a while, but as childrens fears evolved, the monster baby was introduced to change the necropolis so it can fit the new fears children have. The dwellers were something children from more ancient times feared, but as they went and new children came, the dwellers were basically scrapped by whatever eye rules the spiral, and a more modern fear, the monster baby, was introduced.

Wonderful Little Nightmares video as always! Though my love and interest for Little Nightmares hasn't dwindled at all, my brain has significantly slowed down in analyzing the world of Nowhere and trying to understand it, hence a small understanding and connection to the new content. This has got the gears turning a little again and I feel very informed and connected with the Necropolis and can't wait to learn more about it in LN3! ✨.

Ok, so I have an extremely outlandish theory, which is mostly just speculation but would be really cool if it were the case. Let me explain. Also, this'll be a long one. Have fun reading the brainchild of my tendency to overthink things and current Little Nightmares hyperfixation. Clearly, time doesn’t really function in the Nowhere. Or, more accurately, it doesn’t function linearly. It's a never-ending loop. Not one where the story plays out and then it all resets, starting back at the beginning, but instead one where the loop continuesly feeds into itself, with actions taken in the future/present affecting what happened in the past. {For example: Going with the already-kinda-confirmed theory that Mono is just a past version of the Thin Man, we know that Mono would not have become the Thin Man if it weren't for Thin Man's own actions. Mono's future actions led to what happened to him in the LN2. It's a loop.} So going with the theory that something that happened on or in relation to the Maw {whether it be the creation of the giant baby or something else, such as Six's actions at the end of the first game} at least had a hand to play in the downfall of the Necropolis, and also assuming that Necropolis was created and fell into ruin long before the Maw became a thing {based on the differences in how old they look/the technology they have}, maybe that is a loop in itself? Maybe, stay with me here, something that happened in Necropolis either; a). led to the creation of the Pale City {due to a need for escapism}, which itself led to the creation of the Maw {because eating can be a form of escapism}, or b). led to the creation of the Maw in itself {hunger? not enough food in the desert? perhaps the kids weren't the only ones starving and those bodies hanging were from that}, with the Pale City forming independently. And, whichever way it happened, the Necropolis ended up eventually falling due to something that happened on the Maw, a vessel created who knows how long after the city had already fallen. So, basically an endless time loop of: Necropolis exists -> Necropolis falls -> Fall of Necropolis leads to the existence of the Pale City -> Existence of Pale City leads to the creation of the Maw -> Existence of the Maw leads to the downfall of Necropolis -> Fall of Necropolis leads to the existence of the Pale City, which then leads to the creation of the Maw, which leads to the fall of Necropolis.. over and over again. But all of this is happening outside of the flow of time, with the past, present, and future co-existing together, hence why it all seems to be out of order.
