Im happy to see both games people are saying one looks better then the other but to me they both capture the little nightmares universe perfectly. Little nightmares 3 feels empty and spacious story told by the scenery/plot With things along the way. Reanimals seems like a take on the universe where things are more in your face a bit darker. Leaning more into the horror. Plot maybe easier to follow. Both will be great
@monroerobbins75514 ай бұрын
Agreed! Like, both have their highlights, and both have their strengths. Little Nightmares is a series that doesn’t rely on dialogue, and kind of emphasizes on a lack of connection, as you try to survive in an alien world. ReAnimal feels like the protagonists have some connection to the world, like with their animal masks, and the world has both verbal and visual storytelling. The same world, but different methods of exploration, but not TOO different, if that makes sense.

3:45 I think one thing that made this bit particularly horrifying to me is something that I doubt is connected, but is still scarred into my memory. There’s a disease that infects deer and elk, and turns them into something reminiscent of zombies, it’s called Chronic Wasting Disease. Open sores and rot, empty dead eyes despite still technically being alive, and particularly, their messed up bones and joints. The rotting while still alive, the sickening bones cracking, it’s very visceral. While I do love Little Nightmares, I’m just as excited to see ReAnimal, as it covers certain aspects of horror that, while not as easily marketable, is still just as fascinating, especially with the concept of predator and prey (which, I LOVE that the big monster is a scary lamb. It’s not often you see monstrous lambs being a main antagonist, so it’s nice to see!).

My theory is that the Hunter is connected to Reanimal. Knowing the hunter loves taxidermy, and there is a deformed moose head on his wall. Not to mention the massive moose that was supposed to be in the backgrounds of the woods, that got scrapped. Could the hunter have gotten powers from the thin man, and used them to reanimate dead animals that he has taxidermized? We do know he likes to use taxidermy to bring people "back to life" by putting fake versions of them in different rooms. (the dining room with his family and his mom in the attic) although they werent alive because he didnt have any powers. But maybe, that changed? I'd like to add that the doctor could be related too. He brought mannequins to life. Him and the hunter could have teamed up to bring back dead animals, using the hunters taxidermy and the doctors power to bring things to life.

5:13 I feel like the spider-like creature is more of a nod to the cursed boar god in Princess Mononoke, since both have a similar overall look, although the one in Mononoke has those maggot-like curse worms emerging from it. The giant hole makes me think of a hole going all the way down into hell. It kinda reminds me of an old 80s horror movie called The Gate where the protagonists are a bunch of kids who dig up a geode that seems to have been blocking a gate into Hell and have to spend the rest of the movie dealing with demons invading while they try to return the geode and seal the hole. I feel like the trailer is hinting the protagonists set the disaster in motion, possibly by doing something as innocent seeming as dropping the dead body of a lamb that had died on their farm down a deep pit. The girl’s rabbit mask stands out, both because it’s the only mask that seems to have been intended as a mask, and because it reminds me of the Huntress mask from Dead by Daylight. The lamb and pig both symbolically have links to the underworld. The lamb because it is the symbol of Jesus Christ, a character who comes back from the dead, and the pig because of Orcus, the Roman god of the underworld.

Ln1 felt like it focused more on adrenaline and the horror was having to run for your life. Ln2 felt like it focused more on the horror of isolation, two small children who only have each other in a post apocalyptic world much too big for them. This feels like we're gonna be watching the apocalypse happen, watch the world fall apart around us with no way to stop it. The fear of inevitability like death, since there's a big focus on that with the reanimated animals and there was a guy walking like a zombie.

I think the “Re-“ in the title Reanimal refers to “return”. Like return to animal more so than being reanimated. I think we will see people devolving into animals.

Im surprised they re doing a game that is still very similar to LN, dont get me wrong I love that they are doing so, but consider they didnt wanted to continue with LN for me at least was that they just wanted to explore other type of games, but now im assuming its had to be more about their relationship with Bandai on LN might not have been what they wanted and ultimately just not continue with the partnership losing the IP, although they still got another publisher for this game hopefully they made it so they can’t interfere in the development and maybe even keep the IP

I can't help but think of "sacrificial lamb" in regards to the sheep and wonder what that will symbolize in the game, especially with how prevalent the sheep imagery is. Plus, criminals being hung in a public square often served as a warning to others to stay in line, it's own sacrifice for the greater good and appease authority. Given that the brother reflects this, it makes me think he was to be some kind of sacrifice like the sheep. I'm unsure of any parallels with the rabbit off the top of my head, but the sheep and sacrificial lamb themes are definitely important.

Also in Very Little Nightmares the secret jack in the boxes feature a similar looking girl in a fox mask, and a boy with a sack head like a scarecrow. This is likely an idea they’ve had for a while. Also the monster with hands and babies is likely more a reference to the Demon from Princess Mononoke, and possibly what would happen if you attached the Kodama from the same movie since they have a kinda creepy pale baby look.

I think it is cause all of tarsiers previous games link to little nightmares I can’t imagine with this game being so simolilar it too wouldn’t be also note how the characters in reanimal are dressed like boy and girl in the paintings in the lady’s quarters in game 1 also important to note the kids nightmares reflect fear around them and the voice at the beginning of the trailer is a northern English accent where you would find loads of farm animals even sometimes fields of them in developed areas
@AuriPlayzz4 ай бұрын
I mean it could be an alternate reality or something, but I do think they’re seperate. However it does seem to be a spiritual successor to Reanimal, in which reflects Tarsier’s true anticipations. If you want to connect them, then I’d say The Nowhere is kind of like a limbo zone, and wherever Reanimal is set, is some type of Hell - since hell is a very emphasised word in the description.

I think those are not kids, they look more like teenagers due to the more taller bodies they have compared to the Little Nightmares protagonists. I'd love them to be teens cause that would mean the protagonists have matured along with the games, giving us a more "adult" kind of experience. I'm really eager to see this new game and I really hope this dethrones Little Nightmares as my favourite horror game

@Saracooper224 ай бұрын
I could totally be wrong, but I wonder if the boy in the sack is actually in reference to a cat, not a pig. Like, ‘the cat’s out of the bag,’ which refers to letting a secret slip. The phrase itself is also in reference to a really old practice of (tw, animal cruelty) drowning unwanted cats and kittens by tying them into a bag and tossing it in a river. Bc of the phrase, the themes of death and children, and the importance of water imagery and drowning in Reanimal, I really think the boy in the bag might be intended to look like a cat! (Edit for clarity)

Honestly I’m excited for both games, especially since both games look like they will have co-op in them. My fiancée and I loved Little Nightmares 1 and 2. We took turns in game who was in the “drivers seat”. My fiancée played through the first Little Nightmares, while I played through the second game (I don’t remember which of us played through the first game’s DLC). So I think it will be an awesome full circle moment when these games come out and we can play them together.

I genuinely think it's a combination of both. No Face is completely smooth and has a mask, whereas the soot sprites look "furry" and don't really have a face either.

tbh i think the rope around the mc with the bag is symbolic for the animals that are put into bags and drowned in waters (kittens and dogs f.e.). Would also make sense considering water is such an important part in the game.

Actually the creature that they are emulating is not the soot creatures, but rather "No Face" in his monstrous form. It was a massive blob with multiple arms. OR it is more likely portraying the cursed Boar from Princess Mononoke from the beginning. It was a four limed blob looking creature, not dissimilar from what is seen at 5:08. The multi leech looking tentacles, or such, appear similar to them.
@Tericho3 ай бұрын
I think it might be a mix between the soot creatures and no-face though as the soot creatures were furry and no-face was squishy, almost liquid.

Reanimal is NOT connected to Little Nightmares, no matter how much you want to spin it. Tarsier have SPECIFICALLY SAID that they wanted to step away from Little Nightmares, and the story of the first two games seems to be pretty well finished in the sense that they've managed to spin the two in a never ending loop, and when they released the first trailer of Reanimal back in 2022, they had to specify that it was a new world, new story, *emphasis on NEW*, Tarsier doesn't want anything to do with Little Nightmares right now, and it's clear they were content with how they left the series off. Please be respectful of their wishes and choices.
@Tericho4 ай бұрын
First of all, watch the video. Second, your whole statement is disproven by the fact that they very clearly and very proudly list LN 1 and 2 at the beginning of the trailer. Please don't talk about respect when you didn't even watch the video you are complaining on.
@the_furry_inside_your_walls6394 ай бұрын
@Tericho Taking pride in their previous works and having eastereggs to said works does not mean they want people to think there are connections between Reanimal and LN1-2. A lot of the stuff you've pointed out in the video could just be chocked up to "this is an easter egg" or "this is a common technique/design trope used in these types of games." Once again, if they wanted Reanimal to be connected to LN1-2, they wouldn't have specified that it was an entirely new IP/story/world. Tarsier are artists at the end of the day, and one of the most annoying things an artist can face is having your hard work invalidated by people trying to draw lines to an older work of yours when you don't want lines drawn.

If we push your theory further, those animals are also pretty relevant in nightmare/dream interpretations. A quick summary if you want to dig deeper. Pig: Represents guilt, excess, or lack of control; can symbolize primitive instincts or undesirable behaviors. Sheep: Reflects fear of losing individuality or blindly following others; may indicate internal conflict with passivity or conformity. Spider: Suggests feeling trapped, overwhelmed by anxiety, or facing hidden dangers; often linked to fear or manipulation.
