I have many fond memories of playing Mahjong with some men near my hotel in Shenzhen China. I was there for two weeks on business and these older guys just randomly invited me over to chat and before I knew it, they were teaching me to play Mahjong. Easily one of the top travel experiences in my life.

That's factory has a surprising level of vertical integration for what you would normally consider a fairly niche product. From the looks of it. the only bit they aren't making in house is the electronics and wiring. I was initially surprised by the fact they were making their own motors, but after seeing just how many motors are in each unit, I guess it does make sense. Maybe the market for automatic mahjong tables is bigger than I was thinking..

It's big as hell. If you travel to China, remember to count the number of them. It's gonna surprise you, especially in the undeveloped places. Poverty leads to gambling, gambling leads to poverty.

I have travelled quite a bit in China, and although I have seen a lot of people playing mahjong, the only automatic tables I've ever seen were in the houses of people with a higher income or in the HK mahjong parlors. That was exactly why I was surprised at the scale of the production. @@hanyanglee9018

I’ve seen the game stones around but I never thought it included a table and kept wondering why there were so many assembly processes and the reason for that many gears… Well I got my answer at the end… I think I want one of these now.. Technically it’s possible to make physical (non-electronic) physical earplugs that reduce loud noises from faraway but allow human speech or sounds nearby the factory workers (human ear canal or ear hole is big e.g. 3 to 5 cm - make ear plug or ear muff with smaller hearing hole [patent: Zig Zag hole canal]). The proposal to management is not about the pain and suffering of deaf factory workers, but to max recruitment, labour retention, labour supply and reduce salaries due to increased number of available factory workers globally. This max management profits and charity donations.

This fully automatic table is not necessarily necessary for all mahjong games. However, traditional hand-loaded mahjong is prone to cheating and is unfair, so if you want to play mahjong with complete fairness, you should buy this fully automatic table or go to a mahjong parlor that has a fully automatic table.
