This is an extremely interesting fact. As an African(Ugandan) student who studies Uni just an hour away from that village in Rajkot City, I feel really honored by that gesture which brings out another picture of India.

I have indeed been told by South East Indians ( Indians from India), in my area of Michigan, USA, that Gujarati people are very business oriented. I would have expected to see a more developed town with skyscrapers and beautifully laid out roads as I have seen in some African cities. They need to spend more money on beautifying the town of Madhapar but they may be reluctant to spend the money. As you said, they want to keep the money in the banks. LOL.

I thought that the richest village in the world will be paved with tall skyscrapers and luxury cars but it was a complete shock.
