I mean, it is China and has been for a while. Kowloon specifically was very pro-china. It was sorta used as a proxy war piece against the British in control of Hong Kong at the time. Hong Kong now is a special administrative region of china which affords them a lot of privileges other regions don't get. It is worth looking into the history of things instead of listening to propaganda. At least history can speak for itself

The clothing choices on offer are very on-point with some high class novel. The woman in the black dress with a gold necklace and the bearded man in a hawaiian-style shirt with a button undone... you can write the story from there; is the man some laid back billionaire? is the woman a jewel thief? is the man just an upper-middle-class drunk and the woman is a heiress is going to inherit the hotel he's staying at, and then zombies! Quite the classic choices in any case. I believe some people might call them "iconic" fashion.

Toms right, the Kowloon walled city was in Hong Kong. I think because it was an old Chinese fort though, it was technically still part of China as an enclave within Hong Kong.

It's worth emphasizing that this is Kowloon WALLED CITY, not Kowloon. Completely different places. The actual Kowloon is a district of Hong Kong, and it was just an ordinary part of the city. It wasn't anything like this. I know because I spent my early childhood in Kowloon, and this place isn't it.

So, Kowloon is a large district of the (to give it its full official name within the People's Republic of China) Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (so yeah, Hong Kong has been part of China since 1997, but officially with a high degree of autonomy). The Kowloon Walled City was originally a Chinese fort that refused to surrender to the British back when they invaded; creating an ungoverned exclave of China, which eventually became a slum until it was emptied and demolished in 1994. In brief: the Walled City was an infamous part of Kowloon, but certainly not representative of the whole district; which, at least when I lived in Hong Kong, was a very fun and lively place with lots of restaurants and shops lit up with bright neon signs at night.

As someone who grew up in Kowloon I can confirm this is a highly realistic simulation game (it translates to “nine dragons” referring to the nine hills surrounding the city, it’s part of the new territories of Hong Kong, for those interested)

Basically there is the region called Hong Kong. The 2 biggest land mass is Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula. In Kowloon there was a place call Kowloon Wall City. It was demolished around 1993 / 1994. It isolated itself from the rest of the city. Buildings inside are all mess up since no one outside wants to go in. This leads to lots of ghost stories / urban legends and such. Also the number 4 is bad in Chinese as it phonically sounds like the word for Death. So when the game say you rent a room on the 4th floor you know bad things are coming.

Watched a video on Kowloon. It is, Genuinly. Terrifying. (As a concept) It does look cool though, and its culture is pretty cool. I love the idea of a city within another city with a completely different culture. Although it would very easily lead to crime and conflict, as seen here. ☹️😑
