I’m the author of this SCP-001 proposal. This is something I wrote to be my cap stone project and took me around 4 months to get it to a place I was happy with. Thank you for covering it! It’s probably the most personal thing I’ve written. Fun fact: all the SCPs that experienced containment failures were things I posted to the site and eventually deleted. This proposal served as my in universe explanation for what’s going on with them. I won’t say outright of the anomaly actually exists, but I personally think it does.

Haven't finished listening but I wanted to say I love the concept and tone of this already, especially since a few 001 proposals/other articles are concerned with the origins of the anomalies/foundation and are really rather serious. I'm always a big fan of the sillier self aware side of SCP!

On the note about going from a containment failure rate of 5.2% to a containment rate for 001 of 95%: This doesn't mean there's been no change in containment failure rate. In fact quite the opposite. Paraphrasing, earlier the the director stated that of that 5.2%, roughly 1.4% was explained via means outside the foundation's control, with the remaining 3.8% being attributed to 001. If this is true, a 95% containment rate of 001 would mean reducing that 3.8% down to 0.19%. (I assume my numbers are off slightly, because the 5.2 & 1.4 figures are entirely from memory, but the math otherwise is correct) In other words, containment failure has gone from 5.2% down to 1.59%. A significant reduction!

7:25 I love the implications behind the first example. In the 80s, the Foundation had even better access to SRAs than today due to the Ichabod campaign (as "canonized" in the Montauk House). This means that chances are SRAs didn't work, and they failed to work so magnificently that doccumenting the agent getting launched into the stratosphere was *less* embarassing.

The start of this gave me a great idea for an SCP as told via the experiences of a researcher. An anomalous sense, given to a researcher who is deaf, blind and missing a limb. Sensing the things around them via symbols and vibrations detected through the sense. Walking up to a door with a walking cane they sense prison bars, a vibration is felt and they can tell it's an audio cue from a foundation security door, they sense a monolith and realize theres a biometric scanner, the issue being that they're missing the hand for the scan. they have to call security and navigate the issue thru sense alone. Have the SCP be a great boon but show the flaws of the average day inate in something like the foundation. Have it end with a containment breach of some sort where the facility is locked down, the researcher even further frustrated and yet they end up being completely safe, as the anomaly that broke containment can only harm you if you can see or hear it. Leaving the researcher to single handedly through blind luck (aha) contain the anomaly.

Saw the OG author's comment about the anomaly being the force behind their deleted articles. But I also see it as an SCP author's weapon of making anomalies "escape" the foundation despite the odds. Without SCP 001, all SCPs should be theoretically contained as said earlier the Foundation has access to unlimited resources and are able to make things almost out of thin air.

I like to mow the lawn while I listen to these, and when I heard about the Crab/Lobster militia, I laughed at the top of my lungs in my front yard

I love that the video is slightly different in almost every sentence to the written wiki. I was trying to read along with it and it was fun.

Sure feels like Gremlins 2 all over again, replete with its title sounding like a Katy Perry song, this SCP article. Not that it's a stupid thing, no. More like a surprising gem.

Based on the beginning of this, I thought this was going to turn out to be something para-physical. It seems like a narrative convention that some anomalies remain at least partly uncontained in order to make them feel scary or exciting, even though logically the Foundation's power should have done something about it.

You can tell the quality of narrative based on if the writer defaults to floating third person immediately. Good SCP writing tends to use in-person narration. Excellent narration as always.
