I grew up playing in and around that cave. Local stories say it used to go to the Carlisle army barracks at one time. Before the dam was put in and filled it with silt. Enjoyed your video.

Thanks for posting this video. David Lewis was my 4th great uncle. Even though I grew up in PA, I never knew about his history until I left the state, so I've never been here. It's a crying shame how people have trashed such a historic site!

Looks like a nice hiding place. Long ago it was. It probably was not so wet. Unless I saw it myself, I don't know how dry the ground is. It seems like a place native Americans would use, many made thier homes by rivers and creeks. I remember my great grandparents had a house not far from a creek. They kept a lot of the old ways hunting fishing

Sitting on the edge of my seat! Cool cave.

At least there's one landmark of my youth that hasn't been torn down and redeveloped. I grew up about half a mile from Cave Hill. Back then in the middle 60s there was little graffiti, but still the same mud. It sure looks different with real lighting. We used to go in with an Eveready flashlight in each hand. (one of which which would usually croak before we got 30 feet in) I had a map of Carlisle, and swore I had plotted the course of the cave past the collapsed section. I knew it was right in our backyard, and I spent weeks digging a four-foot hole that was all limestone, and man, how I wanted some dynamite to blast a new entranceway into the cave. Then we moved before I could prove that I had discovered the lost passages of the Cave Hill Cave.
