I grew up one town over from her and the greatest regret of my boss at the coffee shop was fumbling the bag with her in the 90s. Whenever "It Hurts So Bad" would come on the radio he'd get this wistful look and stare off into the distance. So glad to see that Susan gets the signature artist treatment, her music is a treasure.

You cant help but smile while watching this, I see her band every time they come to town, and the last time I saw her play "I Pitty The Fool" She just Killed !! the solo so powerful and emotional just like her superb singing. Susan is a miracle of a singer and it's right and proper that she gets such a high honour as as a guitarist too - a real blueswoman, so much feeling and taste in her playing. Her voice + a tele in her hands is such a powerful combination. Some of her playing here reminded me the way Robben Ford sounds when singing with his tele only. Two very different musicians, different skills and talents but the same deep understanding of the language. Thank you Susan for all the wonderful music and vibrations!

i am super psyched ro be able to say that i played that original tele she had...i was a local TV reporter and had interviewed Susan before when she was nominated for best new artist for the grammys.....then she played a gig at Harper's Ferry which i did a tv story on...i got to play that guitar and it was great....thank you Susan and Fender for making it a guitar that others can enjoy.....!!!

She mentions Cambridge Music, that's where I got my first (knockoff) Les Paul and my first amp. I loved going in there! It was a small place but it had a lot of guitars. I was like a kid in a candy store whenever I was there. Jim Mouradian's was upstairs, it was sort of an apartment and they had a little repair room. He and his son Jon were really cool, and they knew their stuff! I miss that place, I was so bummed out when they closed.

I saw Tedeschi Trucks at Ravinia some years back and I've seen ABB with Duane, I've seen Derek & The Dominos and many others. That was the only show I've been to where the featured act got a standing ovation in the middle of the first song. It went like that all night, too. Amazing and I'm not surprised she has a signature model, not one bit.

That color is so cool. I know Fender has had that color on and off but I’m happy it’s back. Every guitarist male or female should own a Tele. The secret is out, the Tele is not only for country music, if that’s your thing all good, but a Tele can play anything. Set up right it’s very fun to play.

Susan's era of guitar - 1993 Am. Standard Tele is still an unheralded period for Fender. The American Standard instruments produced in Corona beginning in 1987 are superb and the quality of the guitars by the early to mid-1990's is excellent. Lifetime instruments. Fender was doing its early custom shop work in this period (Cunetto relics), but the quality coming from the Corona factory was exceptional. Even now, they rarely sell below $1K and they don't show up for sale all that often because they are great instruments. Good luck finding an original caribbean mist tele from this period. I'm not at all surprised that Susan stuck with this tele her entire career - it picked up some cool autographs from the last of the great electric bluesmen along the way. This would be a great guitar for any aspiring young player who wants an instrument that can take them all the way. I'm eyeing this as a gift for my teenage daughter who is becoming a great player - about to graduate from the Squier by Fender Classic Vibe starter guitar.

As a guy and a purveyor & collector of some high-end guitars, if i ever were to own/play a Fender Sig Series guitar bearing a woman's name it would be this one from SD. A fan for nearly 30 years, she's stood the test of time and has all of the cred that comes with it. (As for a Strat, I could see myself adding a Bonnie Raitt.) Cheers🎉
