Next time you go back use smaller flies like size 22-24 midges and make sure your present them right you will slay it! Hands down one of my favorite places to fish ever! Got my PB there a few years back!

A few things about the San Juan below Navajo Dam. It is a bottom release so the water comes out 42 degrees F year round so wet wading is not recommended. The bottom is loaded with aquatic worms so annelids, San Juan worms, and midge larvae are your main flies. Like most tailwaters, smaller is better; don't go bigger than size 18s on your midges. Looks like you had fun!

Good video .. nice fish... and looked like a meal for a king... I want to go fishing again .. been along time . I guess you can't keep them and eat them?

No. It’s like a 4 mile stretch of water that’s all catch and release. Probably why there’s so many and so big. I read that they estimate there’s 15,000 fish per mile up there. But that just discouraged me more for only catching one.. 😂
