Hey Fishermans Life.... I just want to say thank you this video. I am currently in The Active Duty Navy and I always change location so friends are limited to none. I always watch fishing videos like yours and Ace, etc. and I never knew how to do it. I even show my wife your videos and she sees the excitement I get when I talk about fishing. I was up in convict lake near Lake Tahoe and was in envy when I saw fisherman fishing for fresh water lake trout but I always was too scared to ask them. Rooster tail w a gold swivel I always use. Always hit. Bait kaster all chrome hits good too. So noobs need to know what kind of hooks are allowed. Each river has its own set. No snelled and no treble hooks. The fish and game in ca are so strict especially in small creeks in small mountain towns. Just looking out!

Great tip on wetting your hand hand before handling the fish before handling . Myself i learned from Canadian Sportfishing with Italo and the other guy . Fish are going to appreciate the gesture even fish with scales .

If you are going to be traveling unknown forest roads be ready. I try to warn people how brutal it can be getting stuck, too many people have the "it'll never happen to me" mindset without even having the experience of changing a flat tire on gravel road. I don't warn people for no reason, here is my list of stuff I have constantly loaded in my 2015 Kia Soul, I have more equipment in my truck. 6k cal of food and 4 days of water (that becomes 2 days with 2 people), a change of clothes, a knife, a way to make fire, a blanket or 2, a towel to dry off, a saw, an axe, a manual style winch that is rated for at least double your vehicle weight, 3 times the flat tow line you think you need, a couple d-rings for rigging, a car jack, a tarp, hammock, extra hammock ropes (that I've had to use to get my car out more than once), and a bug net. Edit: 18" x 42" piece of 5/8 ply wood for a fast table top to not lose equipment or cutting board for the catch, I put it on top of the spare tire in my trunk. I also have 4 fishing rods and a backpack full of fishing gear in my car but that's the reason I get stuck, not to help me get out.

The spinners will absolutely knot your line without a good swivel. Swivels with ball bearings are ideal. Panther Martin has a double bladed spinner out that works really well, especially trolling, but will 100% twist and knot your line without a good swivel. Spend a couple extra bucks, save time on the water and the aggravation of knots.

If you use fluorocarbon I recommend putting the spool(just the spool) in warm/hot water for about 10 minutes to give the line some new “memory”. Monofilament is great for using bait with a fluorocarbon leader. Mono doesn’t have a sink rate like fluorocarbon does so you’re less likely to have snags.
