Another great review Scott. That blue is beautiful and the extra battery capacity is a plus. I’ve owned an Aventure since August of 2021 and have a little over 3,000 miles on it. I had the Aventure dropped shipped from Aventon at the time because none of the 13 Aventon Stocking Dealers (5 of which are Aventon Elite Dealers) within 50 miles had the bike in stock. Obviously it’s the first version with the cadence sensor. I really like the bike but can’t say I love it. The biggest pet peeve I have with the bike is the delayed response of the throttle and PAS modes. I wish Aventon had produced the bike with a programmable controller or came out with a fix for this issue. It’s a very good bike otherwise. The Ebike landscape is changing quickly. The Aventure was the entry level, fat tire bike to have at the time. But, with that said… I’m looking forward to seeing your comparison video to see how it would stacks up against the competition today.

Thank you! I feel like they saw the issues with the Aventure and fixed the flaws with it. No need to hit the battery first to turn it on, no throttle or PAS delay, and a bigger battery. I am super pleased with it!

I owned the first Aventure and now own the Troxus Explorer. Between the two, the Explorer wins hands down. The overall feel and construction of the bike was better. Within 2 weeks of the Aventure purchase, I had my bike stand fall off (hex screws weren't secured), a warped front rotor, and the motor started an incessant whine. Aventon eventually made things right, but there was a period where their Customer Service absolutely SUCKED! Many others called them out as well. The only complaint I have with the Troxus is the front suspension. I think Aventon spent just a bit more to get a better quality product. For the price I paid, I can easily upgrade that and be well ahead if I had just bought another Aventure.

I have the smaller framed version of the Explorer (the Lynx). It is also a really nice e-bike.

Maybe someday I will get a chance to review that one as well.

@@scotthardesty You said in another video that you are 5'9" with a 31" inseam so you might like the Lynx. I am 5'7" with a 30" inseam and I love riding the Lynx. Especially compared to my other (step-over) bike. The Lynx is definitely not for the big/tall rider.

Very informative review. I like that you added a hill climb to your review. I am still on the fence about the cadence sensor and the Aventure 2 has a torque sensor for the same price. The battery is a plus but that may not be the swaying factor.
@scotthardesty Жыл бұрын
I totally understand the struggle. The biggest differences between the A2 and the Explorer are this. A1 - Torque sensor, turn signals, no welds. Explorer - 1/3 bigger battery, no delay on the throttle or PAS, and about $300 cheaper with my code (for now).

@@scotthardesty I've read comments that once you experience a good torque sensor bike, you'll never want to shell out the cash for another cadence sensor bike.. or is the torque sensor not that much better? I guess it depends on the rider.
@scotthardesty Жыл бұрын
@@18andlikeit I would say that it’s a riders preference for sure. Luckily for me, I enjoy both. I also see the value in both as well. After riding with a torque sensor for so many miles it’s nice to hop on a cadence sensor bike and vice versa. I am just extremely fortunate to have access to all these bikes. Out of my top 5 favorite bikes, 2 have torque sensors and 3 do not.

Nice video as usual. I'm thinking about getting a Fat Tire ebike. So far the the Nomad 1 seems to be the standout. for commuter bikes, it would be nice to see if the wheels will fit in a city bus rack. Like maybe, take the bus out somewhere and ride the bike back. I'm also interested in the back-racks on these bikes. I like the clip-on style trunk bags used by Trek. There are a lot of Bike trails around Chicago. My favorite one is along the Fox River in Aurora, Il up to St. Charles, Il. Maybe this summer you could tool around and feature a few of the better bike trails.
@scotthardesty Жыл бұрын
The Nomad 1 is also one of my favorite fat tire ebikes. I looked and Fox River is 3 hours away from me. That's pretty far for a bike review. I plan on hitting a lot of trails but that's too far away, so they will either be in the areas of northern Indiana (we have a cabin up there and a lot of MTB trails) and locally around Chicago. I just purchased an emtb and there are some good trails in the Kenosha, WI area as well (about an hour away). I plan on hitting a lot of trails with that bike.

@@scotthardesty Aurora, IL to Lake Shore Drive is approx. 1 hour 15 min. via Interstate 88. Add plus or minus 15 mins by train, Grand Central to Aurora IL. Trains open up a lot of adventure opportunities to places like Denver, Co. etc. (I used to service copy machines for Gordon Flesch in the Chicago area many years ago, hence my knowledge of Chicago's Western Suburbs.)

They are very similar. I will be comparing it to my Aventure 1 (since it has a cadence Sensor) and my Velotric Nomad 1. Wider bottom tube due to the bigger battery on this but besides that, they are almost identical in looks.

Is it a copy of the Aventon Aventure?
@scotthardesty Жыл бұрын
It is extremely similar. I feel like they took the Aventure (version 1) and improved on it with the bigger battery and no delay in the pedal assist and throttle, although it doesn't have the full color screen the Aventure 1 has.

I don’t find it fair to compare a cadence sensor bike against a torque sensor. So it will be against the Aventure 1 and the Velotric Nomad 1.
@007peter Жыл бұрын
@Scott Hardesty isn't TORQUE sensor a tad overated? Sure it's "better" than cadence sensor in feel (but) I would think a (Bigger 20ah 🔋 Battery) would be far more Useful & Valuable than a Torqued sensor with smaller 14Ah battery. That's the answer I'm trying to find out from your video. Keep up the good work 👍
@scotthardesty Жыл бұрын
@@007peter You aren’t wrong, but it is a totally different riding experience. And because of that I try to pair up “like items” when it comes to these reviews. I already know the Troxus will dominate the Aventure 1 and will most likely win over the Nomad 1 as well (but only in batter size I presume). I just have to get thru some initial reviews of some other bikes first.
@007peter Жыл бұрын
@Scott Hardesty Agree on yr observation. For me, Aventon Adventure 2 is the "pinnacle" of ebike that can justify its price over no-brand Troxus. Aventon also enjoys the best Paint Finish I'd ever seen, there is a Car Like premium quality to it's Paint finished. However, my Asian Logical brain seem to favor the 48v20aH battery on the Troxus. Troxus also shown an upcoming ebike with enormous 30aH 🔋 Battery. In my ideal world, Aventon 3 will have a 20aH battery.

Reviewers are Shameless they will review and say anything when money is on the line first issue the motor is a no-name motor which mean repair is almost impossible you literally have to get a new motor from the manufacturer or in this case the reseller. Second problem is controller display and all connections are all proprietary they're not using KT or any of the other off-the-shelf controllers which means Pas sensors our proprietary if they go bad that component and feature no longer is available if the display goes bad proprietary can't be swapped out the bike is literally a Walmart bike, people get so caught up in the look you're going to spend a thousand to $1,200 order disposable black and the reviewers are Shameless or an educated which causing the question why are they doing reviews if they know nothing about e-bikes
