Just wanted to say that wood apple juice tastes nothing like apple juice. Completely different. I think only fair comparison is to tamarind juice. It’s fairly tarty and very earthy. Some even mix coconut milk to the juice to tone down the tartness. Another point is there aren’t any olives in srilanka (other than imported). What the lady identified as olives is actually ‘Elaeocarpus serratus’ aka ‘Veralu or Weralu’. It has a soft and starchy texture when ripe. Lastly, jambu (red bell shaped fruit) this can be tarty or watery in taste depending on how rainy it’s been. The texture is crispy, slightly similar to the texture of apples or pears but a tad bit softer.

getting the Train to Kandy is the best option by far Beautiful scenery on the way . Kandy is very noisy I always stay at Summit View Guesthouse in nearby Peradeniya , there is a train station there and its not far from the Botanical Gardens Its on top of a Hill with great views and has a swimming pool

The market is so colourful. It would help anyone make their day! The wood apple fruit is good for a healthy ♥ heart. Break open the fruit.Take out the contents and leave it in a bowl. Add some water, preferably warm. Add salt and sugar to taste. Pour some coconut milk. Mix them together. Use a strainer to strain the juice. It tastes pretty good. Drink it regularly and you can feel the difference.
