I use to do this sort of stuff around Barrington Tops and Gloucester in the NSW Hunter region. Had an old 2A Land-rover LWB with a Falcon motor and auto box. Big Sunraysia Rims and tyres that would tramline like crazy on hotmix. If I slipped into a rut on a track I would just have to run with it. No way of getting out. Memories !!

@@darrenrichardson6936 no worries mate. If you have time, when you get to end of Mitchell’s. continue to the right on Styners Rd and check out the old slate mine. Only a few Ks further along. Wicked views if you haven’t seen it yet. There’s a big open cut in the hill, you can’t miss it. Great views from the top back towards Mt Buller. Good phone reception if you need it. Then just head back the same way and pick up Howqua River Tk as I mentioned above.

Great area Tim looks like fun Are those tracks doable from geelong leaving Friday night getting back at around 4pm on the Sunday I'm not familiar with the area so not sure We will have a prado with 2" lift and a navara with 2" lift and a winch will they be ok on those tracks Thanks in advance
@timbates4wdadventures3 жыл бұрын
G'day Jason, Depends how long it takes fro you to drive over from Geelong. Good weekend trip. Your Prado is only one part of whats required to drive these tracks. Whats your experience in steep country? End of the day, you Prado will only go where your off road driving experience puts it on the tracks. Only you can answer that one. On just one point, i wouldn't drive it without at least a rear locker. Hope that helps mate. Cheers Tim.

Need some advice: bought a 2009 Patrol auto DX done 100k - with zero driver aid. I just want to do what you do Tim when I get time and holiday in the near future and basically travel to some of the destinations outback including the Flinders. The problem is I have NO idea about anything mechanical and I found out just a simple few mods heading to $10-15K! What's more confusing is suspension upgrade- myriads around and the most obvious choice ARB/TJM got horrible reviews online. Fulcrum has a 2inch lift kit wonder if this is all I need and currently it has a cheap set of Chinese AT Ecolander tyres on 16 inch steel wheels which I hope to replace with MT71 Kumho. So what suspension upgrade can I do and is it best to buy tyres later after that? I have to do as a salami tactics coz had to pay $27000 incl on road. I am in Lismore area Northern NSW.

Hey tim! I'm curious after the tracks, you started heading towards Running Creek camp.....did you inflate your tyres or leave them at off road pressures?
@timbates4wdadventures3 жыл бұрын
G'day Daniel, Nah i stayed on low tyre pressures. It was only about 4-5ks up the road where we turned off into Running Creek. Plus it was a dirt road, so low pressures are fine, just need to be careful on corners, not to roll a tyre off a wheel. Thanks for your reply mate. Cheers Tim.

Hey Tim just noticed that you don’t use to many bash plates under the rig. Is that because of your lift
