Oh don't be confused by the timeline, dubrovnik had some for that time world class matematicians and astronomers, the republic or ragusa(dubrovnik) traded with their big ships wool from england in times when england had only some coastal navy of small ships and was yet to become a maritime power, in the city of london you'll find a plaque where the first coffee house was opened, by the guy from dubrovnik, at that time more wool was on the ships of the republic than all hansaetic ships combined, and when the king forbid them to trade with it, there was a three years famine in counties that supplied the wool before that. What i'm saying, is that from our perspective it looks unbelieveable, but trust me they used the state of the art technology of the day.

These fortified ramparts are a great reminder of the work put in to protect commodities from raiders and deter pillaging. Great restoration work done to the wall also to everyone to enjoy today. This is a pretty impressive architectural feat. I do hate that the walls were looted for building materials - but I suppose that was to be expected before the modern emphasis on preserving historic structures. Wow, there’s also a Great Wall in Croatia! My first time to see this. Amazing how the stone walls and fortresses were built. It must be hard to walk up there in summer time but the view is very rewarding ! Another great share Jim!
