This is actually sad. I grew up in the hay days of Xbox and Xbox 360. Went back to some old gem titles over the past few years. Full on nostalgia trip. Glad to say I’ve been buying up a lot of the content (Mainly to complete achievement lists 😂) It’s sad it won’t be around forever but I can’t complain as I haven’t missed out at all.

I may have been born 2007, but I still remember my dad's old Xbox 360. He traded it in later in for a more family friendly PS3. To this day we have our PS4. Sure the ps5 and new consoles are great, but do they really have the same fun and nostalgia that 7th gen consoles had to offer? I still got my Wii u console. Never giving that up

I remember the Just Cause demo had a glitch where you could keep playing past the time limit. The only catch was you’d see a flashing 0:00 in the top of the screen. I remember going far out just to see what I was missing from not having the full game.

That earlier 360 era gaming was the absolute BEST!!! I used to play and talk with random people all the time. I had several friends from over in England and Ireland, which for me being in America that was awesome. I'd stay up until the wee hours of the morning to play with my Irish friends specifically and we'd play L4D and just do glitches and stuff. Great times I look back at so fondly. I swear Microsoft changed things and made servers be more based off of country/continent because I never really found people on games from other countries near as much when I got older, I guess it just adds to me missing that golden era of gaming so much. At least those of us that knew and miss it were able to live it I guess.

As an Irish person, my biggest problem with modern gaming is regional servers, gone are the days of staying up all night just joking around with random Americans on Halo. Now we're stuck with one person speaking English, one speaking Spanish, one speaking french, one speaking Italian and another speaking German

People from different places like that is cool but for you that's pretty much the same as me talking to people from Vermont, Illinois, Arkansas, and South Carolina. I'd much rather talk to people from "across the pond" than people who are close to me relatively. It was especially cool because access to being able to just talk to anyone in the world and play with them was not nearly as prevalent as it is today. Rest in peace to global gaming like that is all I can say I guess. Glad you had a seemingly great experience with the same thing too though, because it was an awesome thing to behold.

This is also just my own opinion perhaps, but I think Microsoft should at least release some sort of system update or something probably for the Xbox 360 next that will allow the internal calendar on the console to go beyond the year 2025 in case if there are any gamers still gaming on a working 360 in 2026 and beyond since there may still be some working Xbox 360 systems even past 2025 and also since the internal calendar on the Xbox 360 actually only goes up to 2025 which is only two more years from now since we're already in 2023. Most game consoles usually go up to the year 2099, but for some reason though, the Xbox 360 only goes up to 2025 which is only two years away yet. The year 2025 will also apparently be the same year when the extended support for Windows 10 will finally end as well.

@@UncleBob247 I know, but I just mean that the calendar on the Xbox 360 only goes up to the year 2025 which is only two more years from now and there may still be some people still gaming on their old 360 consoles even past 2025 then. The internal calendar on the Xbox 360 actually only spans between 2005 and 2025. That's what I meant though from before, but thanks anyway. 🙂

The only Xboxes that I pretty much have are just the original Xbox and Xbox 360 systems and I still love to game on them every now and again as well, especially on the 360 which I still really enjoy. 😊

They aren't closing yet appearantly but they are delisting a bunch stuff. I will give it another year or 2 until it's actually shutdown. PS Vita and PS3 are next though, Sony already tried before, along with the Wii U. As the person above me said, anyone with a 7th gen system whether it's the Wii, Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, PS Vita, 3DS, jailbreak them now to ensure their longevity as it gives you admin powers over your console such as setting up fan speeds, homebrew apps for battery management and to make sure you never lose your digital games. Unfortunately, companies do not want to sustent these systems for too long. Who knows how many years the PS4 and Xbox One have left since they are already discontinued.

I recently got into playing Xbox last year with the purchase of the Xbox Series S. I then purchased a Xbox One S for another room I game in. I also picked up a Xbox 360 E I found for a great used price. I have noticed that the marketplace has games listed on the One S and Series S but it will say currently not available but if you go on the 360 Marketplace you can purchase them. If you purchase them there you’ll be able to download them to either current console the One S or Series S. I’ve seen the game The Orange Box on both my One S and Series S marketplace but it says currently unavailable. So I guess if I want it digitally I’m going to have to purchase it on the 360 marketplace. I did that with Daytona USA because it always said currently not available but once I purchased it on the 360 marketplace it changed to purchased and available to download on my One S and Series S.

Xbox 360 will forever be my golden era, my one true nostalgia. Literally as i'm typing this, my bestfriend is snoring on a call with me, a bestfriend who i met over 8 years ago on the Xbox 360, i will always miss those days of being young & goofy on games like Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition, Gta V, Black Ops 2. All those endless nights of playing with all my friends. The community was awesome! Because they wanted to push avatars and add-ons for those because of how popular the Wii got and those had Mii's so they wanted to get in on the gravy train by copying Nintendo's success

I think in this specific situation they actually meant that they were delisting a lot of games in May as I heard before. But how long the marketplace will be on is unknown yet.

I've only used the most recent dashboard, so that's what I like. Only learned the others existed years later. I remember the Avatar stuff, I played a lot of Kinect stuff with them (I used to be a therapy kid, that's why, but it was still fun)

Turns out the 360 Marketplace is not shutting down, that was an error post. Also I think Xbox One and Series consoles get the BC 360 and OG Xbox games from the Marketplace.

NXE dashboard was the best one, back when things like 1vs100, avatars and props, "Microsoft Points", shitty mic quality Xbox Live parties with your friends (lol), Summer of Arcade and the Indie Game section of the store were around. Also the last generation that demo discs were prominent. Feels like after the Kinect released, everything started becoming soulless and corporate. All we can do now is look back and cherish those memories and be glad they happened at all.

On my Xbox Account I had recieve a message that said, "On July 29th 2024, the Xbox 360 Marketplace will retire" (there's more but, I just shorten it) from Xbox. So its still open but, it takes a long time for it to Load your search and Game Details.

I had my 2005 X360 with the blades dashboard all the way until i bought Lego Batman 2 cuz then it told me to update and that 360 lasted all the way to 2014 when my brother decided to sell it, and i dont know what happened to it after this point. But yea soooo many great memories. Not only the demos (Mainly Zuma and Bejeweld 2 or however the latter is spelled) but the phisical copies as well. My greatest memories with phisical copies are from Lego Batman 1 and 2, Skylanders Spyro's Adventure and COD WaW and BO1 and then finally PvZ GW1. Especially with Lego Batman 1, cuz it was so fun to me that i 100% it 7 TIMES.

Sony and Microsoft want the stores to be up for a long time, Nintendo stopped caring about the wii in 2020 and the store shut down in 2018

This is kind of sad in 2010. The Xbox 360 was the best console But with the Xbox series X and S came out and the Xbox 360 became an antique It looks like that the Xbox 360 days are over.
