There's only one old restaurant district in Asakusa's underpass.For some reason, this underpass won't be new.Fifty years have passed.Inari is the same character as Inari sushi, and Inari Shrine is enshrined as a god of foxes.One of the sandwiches is a towel.

When I was living in Tokyo, if I didn't have something to do, or a specific place to go, I would go out on weekends and just kind of randomly ride different lines and get off at different places and walk around. When I passed through Shibuya, I would often stop at Mr. Bean if they were open and got kinako imagawa-yaki. This was several years ago, so I don't know if they are still there. Sometimes I would go downstairs and buy this really good cream puff.

When my wife and I were in Tokyo, we spent a good part of a day around the Ameyayokocho area. She even picked herself up and a really neat little backpack. We really enjoyed the Ueno park as well.

Normally we stay at a hotel between Shimbashi & Shiodome stations partly due to the convenience of Ginza Line & Oedo Line ... heading back to Japan in few weeks time

36:20 Akasaka/Mitsuka I think this done this way for easy transfer to the other line during busy times (ie going to work). In the morning all the commuters have to do to change lines is cross the platform and the same again on the commute on the way home.

LMK if you ever do one of these for the Chuo line. It just celebrated its 130th anniversary (!!!) in 2019 and there was a stamp rally to celebrate. As I'm at one end (Hachioji/Takao) it was surprising to learn just how old and robust the rail infrastructure is in Japan. Super cool video, I hope you do more like this.

Hands down, this is my favourite video you've made! (Finally able to catch up after our own Japan trip.) I love Japanese trains. We were actually going to make a video about the Ginza line but ran out of time. I'm so glad you guys did it for me! And so much better that I would have too. This was so interesting! We used to live on the Yurakucho line and later the Tobu Tojo Ikebukuro line. Loved watching all the people walking by and love that there are still those gritty, Bladerunner vibes in the corners and alleyways - even in such a modern city! Thanks from Northern VA!

@Kyde and Eric also Ueno station is only few min walking distance from Keisei Skyliner station (high speed service to Narita) so a lot of tourist comes to Ueno from Skyliner to go to their destination. I did the same on my first trip to Japan too, come to Ueno station to get my connection to kamata! So in a way Ueno is the first proper JR and Subway station in Tokyo for a lot of 1st time/repeat visitor!

I think I know why they make the layout of Akasaka-Mitsuke Station that way. It is the only station where Ginza and Marunouichi lines meet, and I noticed that during rush hours, a great number of passengers transfer between the two lines, same direction of travel. So, by placing the eastbound tracks of the two lines side-by-side, passengers could just cross to the opposite side of the platform to change lines. Same thing with the westbound tracks. Ah, sweet! You have a good shot of the new Ginza station being constructed at 49:19, with the Shibuya Scramble building (in the background) already operational. So the footage must have been shot between November 01, 2019 and December 28, 2019. Probably early December. About the departure music, there's actually a great video about it right here at KZbin. Thanks so much for posting today! Haha it's my final crunch day for end of term essays and having this on while I work is surprisingly soothing. I love train and metro systems, never lived in a city with one but I got pretty used to Stockholm's tunnelbana when I lived in Uppsala. I can't even imagine the amount of people on the system in Tokyo though! It'd take me awhile to get used to the crowds, but then that'd be any big city. I love how many transit options Japan has, it just seems like such an extensive system for people to get around. I kinda want to visit just to ride the Metro all over and see the city that way!

eatabagel They are Tactile Ground Surface Indicators. Yellow lines directing visually impaired people to the stairway down to the subway station or continuing on along the sidewalk, or to the bus stop

The Yamanote video is one I have watched a few times and this one is just as fun. I sure I'll watch it again and again. With the opening of the new Shibuya station on the Ginza line the station platform you showed us is probably closed down now. So you are probably one of the last people to film this platform and especially the ghost platform. I guess you can't see it any more.

Hey Kyde and Eric, I was just thinking about you guys today and how I missed you, and here you are with a new video! Thank you. P.S. Skill crane games are programmed by the owner/operator to only reliably pick up prizes after a certain amount of money has been put into the machine. This guarantees they get a certain amount of money on average depending on what they stock the machine with. It's a rigged game that requires minimal skill and mostly luck or more money. Keep playing the same machine if you lose and you will eventually win unless you completely lack any skill. If you're watching someone else play and they just won a prize and walked away, you're now playing against a reset machine that will gobble the maximum amount of cash to pick anything up.

I thought it was just my impression that subway stations in Tokyo look like warrens of tunnels, dimly lit and have low ceilings from my previous visits years ago. I absolutely love vending machines, thus, my enduring curiosity of these neat offerings within Japan .. yes, facing a vending machine is so relaxing, "my introverted side speaking" .. just as I like to interact with Bots and even holo-images. I have often thought I'd be a good candidate for the first solo-mission to mars, taking three years .. I'd be pfctly happy as long as I have companion Bots, a world class chess Bot .. a few friendly & highly intelligent holograms whispin' around the ship .. and plenty of energy beverages.

in hollis queens where i use to live for a little while .they were these trees that would have these things fall and yes it would smell and the old chinese ladies use to run around like crazy collecting them ....

They're ginkgo trees and the nuts inside those barf berries are edible. Elderly Chinese people collect them where I live, too, but it's a tradition that's not popular at all with younger people. It's apparently an old-timey Chinese attitude that grabbing free food off the ground is worthwhile. Younger generations are like "ew, I can just buy food at the store."

yamanote line trains have eleven 11car sets, not 15 car sets. the shonan shinjuku lines and similar have 15 car sets. including 2 green cars
