This is a great video! I was born and raised in Toledo. Graduated from Sylvania Southview in '78. Been living in San Antonio Tx since 1980 but some things I miss about Toledo. When I was growing up there, downtown wasn't a place you wanted to be. It's amazing all the bars and restaurants downtown now!!! Awesome!!!

Thanks! I feel the same way about Toledo. I'm always bringing it up in Chicago and telling people how great it is. To me it's all about the great bluecollar people. The food and everything in that city is underrated too! I just put out a new Toledo vlog on my channel a couple of weeks ago if you want to go check it out. I hit up the art museum and went to inky's with some high school friends. Just had the best day there. I love me some Toledo!

If you're ever in town again, you should check out a restaurant called "The Garden" located inside the glass city metropark. It just opened in June of 2023. It has amazing food and amazing views. You can even take your food outside and eat in the park overlooking the river. Currently my favorite spot :)

Happy belated birthday to your Grandma. Happy 80th b-day! I LOVE Toledo. I grew up in the Southwyck area of South Toledo near the two golf courses on Heatherdowns. Unfortunately the only decent parts of the city anymore are on the outskirts near the suburbs. Back when I grew up there in the 1970's and '80's, there were a lot more nicer places to live. Toledo has gotten a bad rap over the years. It's actually a really good city to live in, despite it's decline. I went to Central Catholic High School. My how my alma mater has changed so much--for the better, I might add.

oh yeah it's just like gino's! So the back story is gino's hired the pizza cat owner as president with a contract to sign the business over to him in three years. He brought the business back to life during the three years and so they back out of selling to him so he started pizza cat. It's basically gino's with higher quality ingredients, a little more creativity with the pizzas, and the sauce is a bit different@@cardbored_

Check out Toledo's train station when you have a chance. It was one of the last large railroad stations built in the United States (1951).

Please do a video that showcases Toledo in the Spring and Summer.. i have met several people that have driven through Toledo toward other destinations and could not believe how nice of a place Toledo is… We have a ton of history here.. We have wonderful parks, zoo, museums, restaurants etc… Ae have some wear and tear but still, beautiful… We were once voted an “All American” city and you can live real nice comfortably live here.. I hope that over time, we can get back to that “All American” status.. We first need to crackdown on these property owners and start fining them on maintaining their property… HUGE issue….

Next time when you are in town you have to try Half Time Pizza on Bancorft. 2 guys that worked for many years at Myles in BG opened it up few years ago. Very good pizza. I never had pizza cat because it's not near me but it looks good and have to now.

That place that you went to get black coffee used to be a rexall in the 60's and early 70's. After that it was called Okuley's heating and air conditioning, I worked with Don for a few years in the early 80's. I lived on the other side of the street where the playground now stands and the only thing remaining of my father's house is the small sidewalk at the curb, the address was 526 W. Delaware the neighbors house is still there though. We moved to the old west end in Dec 1969 - 1995 when my father passed away the church bought the property and turned it into Rosary Cathedral's playground and parking lot, and directly across from the house was Mary Manse college. And that Park that you're at right now that used to be st. Luke's hospital but they tore that down in the mid 70's I think, all those memories from so long ago, but to me it seems like just yesterday. 😉👍♥️

Your childhood home was on Hillcrest? Across from Willy's Park? That house was owned by the Desmond's. Did you know, that that very house WAS on the corner of Lockwood and Sylvania Ave? That house was moved from there about 60 years ago! Yep! I watched it being moved with my own eyes. A HUGE flatbed trailer slowly inched its way to Hillcrest Ave. Then on the corner of Sylvania and Lockwood they built Blanchard Brothers Funeral Home. There's a little West Toledo History for you! ❤

We kids followed it being moved on our bikes - it was the coolest thing we ever saw! The Blanchard's (the funeral home people) lived about 10 houses down on Lockwood, they had the funeral home built at the corner location. Great memories before you were born! 😊 Your beautiful mother is Janet who was my wonderful nurse years ago at St. Vincent's Hospital - I adore her! Your sister was a year or so behind me at St. Agnes grade school.
