That conversation with the ticket seller near the start was like some Monty Python sketch full of misunderstanding. When the ticket seller said that the train was "working on the line"/"working on the train", he was telling you that there is trackwork on the trainline so you won't be able to take the train to your destination i.e. only the bus will get you there. In the end he gave up on you and let you waste your time on the dead-end train ride. Classic non-native English speakers confusing each other lol.

You avoided all the typical touristic cities and richer coastal ones, went deep into the country in unfortunately more abondoned (by the gov) cities and had some adventures that even me as a local I never thought abt doing them before as the freight train thing.. I salute your courage and sense of courage. Although, I would have liked to see also more of the beauties of the country in the vid whether in cities on the west on the border of Algeria lie Tbarka, Ain Drahem,Kef,.. or the one on the coast like the island of Djerba in the south or Mahdia, Sousse and Monastir, Nabeul and Hammamet and also the medinas of Sfax in the center and Bizerte in the north. Even though this video didn't show well my the beauty of my country and there's some incorrect informations like for migration from Bizerte that don't exist (I'm from there and even though it's the northmost city in Tunisia and Africa, Nabeul is closer to Sicily and some Italian islands and Sfax is the most know for this and Zarzis because it's safer) also for the Tunisian economy is mainly based on electronics and mechanical parts that are destinated to exports serving the supply chains of cars and even planes you can ofc check this by yourselves by searching Tunisian exports composition..) and for food as well idk if you've chosen a bad location for it but as I'm also a traveler I can affirm that at least Tunisian street food has a lot to offer going from mlewi, fricasse, mak"9"loub and you showed unfortunately a bad image of it so even I see that this video didn't show the good parts and the beauty of history, georgarphy,.. of my country well I hope you had a great time anyway and wish you good luck for your next trips and adventures!

I was just there a month ago (La Goulette). The tram is terrible, erratic, slow, smelly. The bus is even worse. We took cabs, which are bad, but cheap, ~10TND to get from La Marsa to the city. The town is sure "authentic". We rented a car, got pulled over many times for 'document' check. The only good thing about Tunis is the ancient sites, El Jem, Dougga, Carthage... amazing, cheap, not crowded. But, getting there is not easy at all.

The gentleman with the camel was a very nice interview partner, I'm impressed by his german and wonder how he become almost fluent in it, given that it has been quite a while since the Germans made an impression in that region and he doesnt appear to be that old. 😉 The food looks really good, I wonder if it tasted as good - any comments on that? 26:38 - they got the gopnik stance dialed in the background 😅

The owner of the camel learned a bunch of foreign languages throughout his life, working with tourists from different countries. He told.me that he never learned the language academically, he simply practiced it with his clients (tourists). I liked Tunisian salads, although once Vyatich ordered a salad with the spoiled fish. Aside from that, the food was ordinary, not of the highest quality (we didn't visit expensive restaurants, no comments on this). I didn't manage to finish eating shakshuka and pasta, they were too spicy. In Carthage, we ate good sandwiches with tuna. Mint tea was nice everywhere we'd been.
