Your tours definitely look fun and as a Ducati owner (Monster 1200s) a tour of the factory is appealing. I have TMT on my short list. And on behalf of the all the OC people - myself included - I'm glad to hear you now have another side case. ;-)

One of the problems with living in the South of France is it's hard to find somewhere better. Yesterday we went for a 300km day trip up in the Alps from Nice, hundreds of Dutch, Germans & Italian riders. Tells me we are in the right place for bikers.

Angry looking clouds...you had to be here in the Netherlands the last two nights to see them. 75000 flash lightnings last night in the whole country. Terrible thunderstorms with millions of damage and hundreds of trees fell over. One pannier still looks wrong. A bit of rain and your hair starts growing ✂️ Beautiful country. The first think I would change on that bike is that bloody cable on the handle bar.

Another great video as always. I must say the costs you quoted for bike hire surprised me a bit. Bike hire here in NZ is much more reasonable, prices range from £52 for an SV650 to £115 a day for a BMW R1200GS. Admittedly the cost to get here is significant but we have the most amazing roads to rival the best in the world. If you ever get the opportunity to visit I would love to show some of our epic rides.

Brilliant! Followed the whole tour, as I did with the others. I see that iffy roads(like the one before your last lunch stop) is not only limited to here is South Africa! Would loe to go do a couple of tours, like Scotland, Canaries etc. One question - I do suppose for safety sake one would have to, as with the car licence, have your bike licence on your international driving permit? Also, I am more of a cruiser kind of rider, love the Boulevard and Gold Wing - would it be to much of a hassle doing the tours you have done?

This vlog is at last what I expected this area to look like 👍. As you say, timing in the year to visit the tourist places is everything and I think during the summer this area would be my worst nightmare. Looking at the web site, the prices are a bit salty for my wallet and the option of riding independently with my own bike would be the way to go. Regarding nice road in Buckinghamshire, try the B4011, close to OnYerBike in Westcott.

The time before last, I tried a mixture of self and guided touring, I discovered the benefit of touring with Adrian can be summarised as follows; a) he knows the best roads and their condition (recently surfaced etc) b) He organised local restaurants and motorcycle friendly hotel stops, meaning we could sample local variations to the regional cuisine. c) He would guide on the sections where a dash between towns on the autostrada made sense and where to enjoy the best roads & scenery. d) In the event of any issues he can leverage the local contacts, language On the cost front, flying to Bologna via EasyJet etc is very cost effective, then a 7 EU transfer to centre and then a 28 EU high speed train down to Florence. The high speed train goes up to 240-260 Km / hour. Bologna is also a great city to visit for a food tour in addition to the Ducati factory out at Borgo Panigale

DucatiRichie Doug, It’s about 190 EU a day, the rest is bike hire @ ~ 190-200 EU brand / type depending For sure self organised touring is an option, I tend towards a mixture of the two. Self organised touring on the way down and back, a local guide at the destination Tim

Hello MF, I lived just outside Siena for 5 years, the countryside is spectacular, thanks for reminding me. Do you have any idea where to go, and how much it might be, to rent a decent bike for a couple of days? I want to go around Monte Amiata - Montalcino and Montepulciano which is even more spectacular than where you travelled. It's best to go there in May, early June, when the wild flowers are out and it's not stunningly hot and full of mosquitoes - which are a total nightmare there in the height of summer. Thanks for the vid.

PS The SS 223 Siena to Grosetto has the reputation of being the most dangerous road in Italy (roadside bouquets everywhere) - avoid it. If someone tailgates you, indicate and stop to let them past. Some drivers there court danger - macho nonsense. Temperature range in my stay there: +45 to -26c

Did you pass an "Aldi di Chianti", where the local produce is at a reasonable price? P.S. nice to see a tour at measured pace without wheelies out of every corner!

I have watched all the tour vids, I had forgotten about that bloody awful brake line. Great video despite the poor design choice.

Thank you for posting. I was at the local Triumph dealer and sat on the Triumph Scrambler (did you ride it). I noticed my right leg rests on the pipes. Is that the case with the Ducati? If so, how warm/hot do your legs get? I find the idea of my leg resting on the pipe/muffler unnerving.

Yes I have a Scrambler 1200 in the garage at the moment ;0) Leg doesn't get hot on the Ducati....

You weren’t annoyed by that brake line sticking up like a .... in front of the instruments? Struggling to see the engineering logic in that design.
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 5 жыл бұрын
I never even noticed it! I suspect the engineering logic is to allow the big travel on the front fork....
