Nah... that house wasn’t flooded. I live in Houston, Texas and have seen many flooded homes. They nearly always have a water line up the wall and mold. Plus all the stuff in the house would have obvious water damage. Now that one room in the cafe that had the fridge in it, that floor looked more like what you see after a flood. Everything kinda jumbled all over the place on the floor although it’s missing the mud and gunk.

My guess is that after the disaster, they packed up everything and brought with them what they could fit in the car, with the intention of coming back later for the other stuff. In the first home, they probably never came back, but in the second, they did and took those things that were valuable.

Hi Lesley and Jordy, Bros of Decay, This was really at the same time a fascinating as well as a sad video. - I just try to imagine, how horrible this must have been for the involved inhabitants of all these abandoned houses, when they had to leave everything behind because of the catastrophial events hitting the population there back in the days. - Neverstheless it was still very interesting how you described the everyday life of the people. - I once more loved listening to your sonour and lovely voice telling in such a knowledgeable and detailed way and with again a great amount of compassion and respect for the population, there involved in these terrible events, what you were seeing and experiencing during your explore. - A truly great video from your memorable Japan trip! - Thank you so much for sharing.. >Wishing you and Jordy all the best in these insecure times, peace and kindest regards. - Hi Steve Ronin. It was nice to see him too!

that area wasn't flooded, they had to leave due to nuclear plant was leaking from the earth quakes. no one live there anymore due to the radiation. It really known for Blossom trees, pretty sad as it was once a beautiful place before the nuclear plant failure. Pretty much like Chernobyl , some area not safe to be in without protection.

@@BrosOfDecay yep, such a shame as I went to Fukushima, Futaba and Okume in 2001, remember a street was line with cherry blossom trees. And people who live there were so friendly and amazing. I know Futuba and Okume are no go zone now due to high level of radiation. Before that, one most beautiful parts of Japan I had been too.
@lynny5510

That is such a beautiful place even in the midst of all that destruction. It always amazes me how nature continues to flourish even after a major disaster. The cherry blossoms and other foliage just brings so much beauty to it all. When looking at the empty street I was imagining what it must have been like the day before that terrible disaster. Imagining the children walking to school and people going to the market to buy food. It is a reminder that everyday is precious. Thanks for another great story.

No, it's not abandoned. It is just temporarily uninhabited. While some people may actually decided to leave their homeland for life, some others still have faint or strong hope to come back one day. In both cases, they regularly come back their home to clean and arrange stuffs, to collect their belongings like memorial photo albums as some items escaped contamination, or to conduct a ceremony for the dead. In the room mentioned in video as 'prayer room' I find Buddist altar and objects for such a ceremony. It is uninhibited, but it is still occupied. If you didn't get permisson of incursion from the house owner and entered the Tatami room with your shoes on ( which is very rude in the local context you know), please imagine how the person who had lost someone plus their home would think: that would be another disaster.

I like that you show respect for the people who lived there. You also put everything back and give background informations. Thank you very much. I think that the slipper thing is pretty cool, it's hygenic, you don't get dirt from outside or from the WC in the rest of the house. In Switzerland we also put homeshoes when we get into the house... and we NEVER put shoes on coaches or chairs...

The aftermath of tragedies like this one stand as mute testimony of the many lives it touched. We need to have a greater awareness of the interconnection of ourselves and our World. We build, in the absolute confidence that our creations will outlast us, but the wildness of this World reminds us now and then that our walls and possessions cannot always protect us. When Gaia shrugs, the Earth quakes and cities fall. Many people survived this horror because they prepare for earthquakes and other disasters, and they have trained quick response teams when they happen. No matter how tightly we build to keep Nature at bay...left for a few years the process of decay, and the return to Nature begins. Thank you...stay safe, and keep loving what you do.🖤🇨🇦
