We plan on visiting Byfield soon with our Patriot Camper Trailer. Looks like it would be best to ditch the trailer when tackling Big Sandy. Thanks for the inspriation to visit.
@OverlandUnknown2 жыл бұрын
G'day, there is a few variables whether to take the Patriot up big sandy or not. If you want to camp at Stockyard or down on the beach at 9 Mile, I've seen numerous camper trailers been towed there. If you are confident with sand driving, capable 4wd and have correct pressures it shouldn't be to much of an issue. Big Sandy is harder than anything on Fraser Island, just my 2 cents. If your going for a day trip, I wouldn't drag it up Big Sandy. Leave it at Upper Stony Creek or one of the other campsites in Byfield. All the best guys, enjoy the adventure, Byfield NP is an amazing place !! Any other Q's, let me know :)

Awesome place out at five rocks. Big Sandy is fantastic, have done it in a Holden Jackaroo and Nissan Pathfinder as well as old mates 75. Stoney Creek great for a swim when it's hot as.

It certainly is fun, especailly if there has been a dry spell, that sand gets very soft !!! Cheers for the comment mate :)

Jeez mate.. you never cease to amaze me. The use of drones and HD cameras in amateur video production is amazing technology. I liked the drone work whilst the vehicle was motoring along the beach. Adds another dimension to how you want to tell your story to us. You held my interest to the end...... well done.

probably just a stabilised "vlog" style camera for the walk n talk sections and you'll be a pro :-)

Great spot and awesome video mate. Went to five rocks around 10 years ago and took several attempts to get up big sandy but that was in a Pajero lol. Now with the raptor I’ll be up there again soon and compare. Hope you’re planning on bringing more videos out soon.

Haha yeah Big Sandy still catches a fair few people out these days still. That Raptor will easily get up with the right PSI. Cheers for watching, I appreciate the support. New videos coming soon. 👍

Hey mate loved your video, definitely God’s country up there. You’ll have to explore the Orange Bowl on your next visit to 9 Mile. You used to be able to drive up to its’ rim to see the spectacular view but these days you’ve got to walk up! It will definitely test your cardio! Look forward to your next adventure.

Hey mate, no permit needed, although if you camp the night at one of the numerous camping grounds, you need to book via the QLD national parks website and have that permit on you.
