Excellent stuff! Got mine today - saving so much time!

5:58 because you do not see any difference, you must choose the position where the surface has less control point (internal knots), in this case 3×4 (Quality all to the left) is better than 4×4 (Quality in the middle\all to the right) ;) or the solution that does not give you naked edges (thus, falls in the file tolerance).

Here's a link to the XNurbs website if you're interested in the plug-in. www.xnurbs.com/

better instruction than the x-nurbs tutorials, thanks

I'd be super interested to see what the points look like on those sufaces, and the curvature combs too! Are the surfaces being created untrimmed?
@marklandsaat36964 жыл бұрын
Hi Sky, the point distribution on the surfaces is very clean. Depending on input geometry it can be a little dense, but I have found that they are almost always very well structured. I can send you the file if you want. I would also encourage you to download a trial version of XNurbs. There is no learning curve and it's easy to compare the output to similar commands in Rhino. It's been a very helpful addition to my toolbox.

Have you tried it on Solidworks? Would you see it usefull over standart SW tools?
@marklandsaat36964 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have it for both SolidWorks and Rhino and love it for both. There are definitely cases where XNurbs creates better geometry than SolidWorks. In most cases XNurbs will produce surfaces with less control points and they are way better organized than native SolidWorks features.

If you struggle with little bumps or ripples close to your surface edges, XNurbs will typically do a much better job creating clean geometry without bumps. The "Flatness Control" Slider usually lets you find a solution without any ripples or bumps.

I believe, you will be very happy you did. I certainly don’t use it for everything, but in cases where it’s difficult to get a good result, XNurbs almost always does a good job. It saves me time, and I get better results.👍

what version of Rhino are you using?? I hav Rhino 5 and this program seems to hav glitches with that version..
@marklandsaat36964 жыл бұрын
@Jeff Stock, the video is recorded using Rhino 6 with XNurbs, but I also have Rhino 5 with XNurbs and it works the same. The only thing you don't get with Rhino 5/XNurbs is the Zebra preview. Which is quite handy if you want to check the flow of the surface before creation. In Rhino 5 it's more iterative. Create surface, check and if not desired result, delete and recreate with different settings.

Can it do 5 edges?
@marklandsaat36964 жыл бұрын
Yes it can and it does a good job. Although you should try to avoid 5-sided holes, X-Nurbs gives the best result of anything I have tried.
