I have a question for clarification-- Didn't some prophets sin, even in Islam? My understanding is that at least a few prophets sinned at least once, such as Adam who was called a prophet yet he was still kicked out of the Garden of Eden. So I'm confused on this. Nevertheless I do appreciate the discussion of how conceptions of prophethood differ between Islam and the Jewish & Christian accounts.

@@mostarac7297 Interesting, thanks for your perspective. And I really liked your long comment as well (the one that begins with "I really would like to ask both"), it makes several useful distinctions and arguments and gave me a lot to think on.

arent you doing the same thing you are criticising ,doing a tafssir for the quran ? if you claim that youdont and you only report what the quran says then the muslim mufassiroun will say the same thing and i hope you speak arabic at least to make this huge assertions @@mostarac7297

I think you are mainly talking about the sunnah and the Muslim traditions (and not the Quran). It is true that the image of the prophets in the Torah are more human (less angelic), but the Quran refers to the mistakes of the prophets too. There is a Sunni movement believing that the prophets (including prophet Muhammad) are not infallible in matters other than receiving God's revelation and it uses the Quran to show it. Here are a few examples: عبس وتولى.

@chrisazure1624 Жыл бұрын
@shahirnaseri9722 I'm on my phone. Searching is not convenient. Look it up yourself. Muhammed's sins are not outlined in the Quarn. It just says muhammad needed to repent of his sins. So your prophet was a sinner. We just don't know how bad until we get to the hadith.

To work for the government, you need a clear record. To work for God, you do not need one? A miserable attempt to defend the disgrace attributed to prophets in the Bible.

As a muslim prophets can make sins but not major sins,and that make sense because they are our role models,but in Christianity they do major sins just make sins like murder,adultery or even incest,why would i follow a man or taking him as my role model if he is that bad couldn't god choose anybody who is better than him.
@declansceltic198 Жыл бұрын
We don’t follow the prophets, we follow the message they delivered - and they aren’t our role models, they’re simply men and women God chose to deliver His message
