I watched all three seasons. The set was remarkable and I had no idea it was filmed in Louisiana. The character, Mary Sibley, lived in the big house; was the dominant witch; and was the major character for the whole series. There were other really good actors that brought the show to life. She was in a relationship with John Alden although she was married, but kept her husband bedridden and unable to communicate through the use of a familiar, a frog. The show was pretty adult!!! Some of it seemed authentic, but a lot of it wasn't. It was an interesting show. Thanks for exploring the village for us!!!

Pretty sure labor unions make it so that most props can't be reused. Basically everything has to be made anew. I agree it's really wasteful. Just another example of Hollywood's hypocrisy. They will use a massive amount of resources, then throw them away or leave them to rot.

I loved this show! I especially loved the premise, that is influenced by the fact that there were people, in Salem, at the time of the hysteria, who practiced folk magic. An example being Mary Sibley, who is a main character in this show, but also a historical figure, who gave instructions on how to bake a "Witch Cake," which is a folk magic practice. And yet, she was never accused of Witchcraft!

Did you notice how they used forced perspective for the far end of the alleyway? Seems like the barber shop was more or less still life size, but everything beyond is smaller, you can see how much lower the door of the next building is. The buildings with the solar powered fans might have been practical sets and they had those fans on when not filming so the inside doesn't get damp and moldy. Might also have been the reason why all those buildings were locked. The buildings where only the frontroom and stairs were recreated might have been used so they could shoot someone walking down the stairs and leave the house, seeing the town square in the background. The rest of the inside shots were probably done either at a local studio or perhaps in one of the practical sets in the locked buildings or the church.

There's another abandoned set just north of Montgomery, AL, where they filmed Big Fish!! It's open to the public ($3 to get in I think) and there are goats that live on the island & have pretty much taken over. It's a cool little place thats only accessible during the dry season, because it's on a lake& the road floods pretty bad.

I love this channel and I loved that show Salem. I’m from RI and I go to Salem every year on my birthday which just so happens to be the 28th of October. My Dad is also a history teacher and I’ve been really interested in history as far back as I can remember. I don’t know why they didn’t make more seasons to that show… the theme was super interesting. What if the witches in Salem were real back then..? They were just messing with everyone too! Lol 😂

I loved this show! I recognized the set from the aerial shots before you announced what show it was from. I wish there were more seasons.

They didn't hang the witches in the center of town ..... they would make them walk for miles to be hung at a separate location called Gallows Hill. When you visit salem they have a red line painted throughout the town to show you the path they would walk to get hung, and its miles long.
