I saw a video a while back of a team also finding a Target where the magnet didn't engage properly and according to the scans it was unsure if it was a rock or a car and it was a car, so if you're ever near the target you've seen it might still be an good idea to dive and see what it is. After so many years of rust and sediment you never know.

I derby 70s Impalas, one hit could take the trunk right up to the rear axel. Towed a car the frontend was tore off hitting a tree. So I bet your going to find a stubby car somewhere.

AC Delco spark plug 44 does fit a Chevrolet V8 from the 60’s thru early 80’s. Now that plug number would be AC Delco R44T or MR44T for the marine version. Weird coincidence that was.

That was quite a day's work searching smaller branches of rivers etc. Nothing found (except for that spark plug 👀) but you can confidently mark those areas off your search maps (apart from any anomalies you'll check on later). The spark plug would be a AC r45ts for a 75 model Chevrolet I was a parts manager for 25 years

Sparkplugs are also used as fishing weights, so it’s not impossible that someone was using it as that, it got caught on something down there, and so they just cut the line.

Im interested in the spot yall found spark plug. 75 camaro is between 3 and a half foot tall 4 foot max. Its a unibody car and takes alot of stability out of them and they rust extremely fast especially being near saltwater and being under water that long its basically rusted out by now plus silted under really bad as well. Not much left in all seriousness. I may not know much but i know vehicles

I mean, I know very little about the technicalities, but could it be possible that all those years the car could have accumulated lots of gunk that the magnet wouldn't stick? Maybe a tree got stuck to it, so the sonar couldn't pick up the car shape and that's why it looked odd? I think finding the spark plugs there is a bit fishy. I know that people throw and lose all sorts of things in water but this seems too coincidental. I would have probably dived on it to rule it out because you never know. Kudos for keeping the case alive!

I got to witness some of the excavation of this vehicle back a few months ago. It was found in a deep pocket of Jack's Creek inside the city of Washington near where the creek dumps out into the Pamlico River. The street there is curved and back in the day, there were just little wooden posts along the roadside instead of a guard rail. Apparently they were driving too fast, went off the road, busted through a couple of those wooden posts, and landed upside down in an eight foot deep pocket. Most of that creek is 3.5 feet deep. They just so happened to land in the one anomaly in the creek, unfortunately. I used to live two blocks from this spot in the late 1980's and frequented that area often (Adjacent to this part of Jack's Creek is a small city park, the beginning of the neighborhood that leads to downtown, and - back then - there was a small grocery store just where the curve starts.) In all that time we were in and around that area, we had no idea that there was a missing car and three long lost men resting right there at the bottom of Jack's Creek. It was surreal to see Jack's Creek drained completely empty and to see the remnants of that car, with the four flat tires still attached, sticking upside down in the mud. It's something I'll never forget. Most importantly, the families of these three men can finally know the truth about their loved ones' disappearance and can have peace of mind after all of these decades. R.I.P., gentlemen...

If the car was a 1975 Camaro it is possible that the motor was not original and had an older motor in it and therefore the spark plugs are for a much older vehicle. Just a thought.the plugs you looked up were for a Chevrolet!
