yes, excellent- subscribed! i only wish i would have known 4 years ago about buying agm batteries that were the SIZE of lithiums, so that when i upgraded to lithium i could drop them in. ARRRRGHHH! i finally just wore out my agm's and got a couple battleborn lithiums. thing is, agm's are HEAVY, so back when i bought those, i thought i was being smart getting (3) 45# batteries that i could lift myself, instead of one i could not move on my own. built them into a custom, stand-alone box, worked REALLY well for 4 years... BUT! i just spent 3 weeks pulling my hair out trying to fit my 2 new battleborns into the space i had allotted during my van build for my 3 agm's.

Oh My Gosh! This! Every so often a keyword search turns up a real treasure! Hands down the best layman's intro to setting up your RV for solar I've seen yet. Began my solar adventure a year ago and most tubers give way too much detail resulting in analysis paralysis or drone on and on about irrelevant stuff. Now I have an improved understanding and vocabulary to build on. No longer will I get perplexed looks by calling everything connector doodahs, charger thing-a-mah-bobs and wire do-hickeys. Here’s to roof top dance parties and picking out movies without wearing pants. Looking forward to your next clip!! Thank you :)

EXCELLENT VIDEO! Clear, concise, simple to understand, straight to the point and all of it in less than 15mins. I've spent a lot of time watching ones that are twice as long and far less informative, so yours is definitely one of the best! In our high tech age of lithium battery powered solar systems with Bluetooth charge controllers, one of the things that continues to irritate me is that we still have yet to come up with an updated 12v power outlet that we can all agree on and adopt. Instead, in 2020 we continue to use an antiquated power outlet introduced in 1956 as a convenient way to light cigarettes while driving! These 3/4 x 1-1/2 inch "tubes" are far too big for what they do, they're just plain ugly and I literally hate them! But you make an excellent point about using them to future-proof your USB outlets (ironic you have to "future proof" your rig using 65-year-old tech). As someone who has just recently changed the USB outlets in my home for the THIRD time in 12 years for the faster, smarter ones, I couldn't agree with you more. Despite my disdain for 12v outlets, that's exactly what will be going into our new rig so we can simply swap out the USB adapters as the 5-volt tech continues to evolve (the next ones will probably lose the USB-A socket in favor of USB-C or some sort of combination). Plus, you can always remove the USB outlet when you find yourself needing another one of those hideous 12v ones. Thanks again for your highly informative video. Great job!

Makes for easy shopping, and pictures are worth a thousand words! I really appreciate this information. No one else did it this well! I have no idea why 335 idiots thumbed this down, unless they disagree with a choice, or got ripped off on something, which did not work, that normally does.... hum. That's weird! Thanks Giovanni

We just upgraded from AGM's to Lithiums by building our own battery bank on our sailboat (we liveaboard) using 180 amp hour, 3.6-volt CALB cells, and a DALY BMS, wiring the cells in a 4s2p orientation. So stoked on the upgrade! We charge our lithiums in 2 different ways. We send the power from our 120 amp Balmar alternator on our engine to our 100 amp-hour sealed lead-acid starter battery. From there a Renogy 60 amp DC-DC charger takes the load from the alternator and puts it in a lithium profile and in turn charges the lithium batteries. It was a fun build!

The best guide I've ever seen on the net! But after learning about all this stuff... I've decided to go with a power bank instead lol. Even though with power banks you get about HALF of the electricity for the same price... you don't have to deal with all the parts and is much more compact and portable, at least for small appliances.

To be honest the best video talking about the solar power and setup. The details were great. I am definitely going to check other videos.

Thanks. Awesome presentation, packed with info & no waffle. One of the best presentations I have seen. Many Thanks from South Africa, where the grid is often turned off due to insufficient power nationally, called load-shedding. These presentations of yours are a Blessing.

This is the best explanation of the technical terms for a large audience whom may not understand everything about electricity.

Great video. But as seems to be common with vanlife stuff, there is a bit of a disconnect between what is in use in other realms. IE. Carbon foam or lead carbon batteries, such as those from Firefly (popular in the boating world). Currently they offer many of the advantages of lithium (specifically DOD) at a lead acid price. Certainly a great option for those just building out and until lithium becomes reasonably priced.

I remember watching this video in the past and I felt so stupid - about 6 months later - I understand pretty much everything about what you talked and I can relax and laugh at your humor! :'D

OMG!!! This has been the easiest to understand and informative video I have watched to date! One actually had me in tears and ready to sell my camper and give up. My grandson and I will be working on my 1964 Scout can ham camper, since I’m quickly running out of money, we decided to do the wiring ourselves. Your explanations weren’t condescending or splashy, making some of us feel as though you felt you were speaking to a bunch of dummies. It gave me the sense you love helping people and want them to be successful in their projects. Thank you so much!

Bravo! A youtuber that listed all the related info links in the description field. Allowing viewers to continue watching the video in full without the annoying popups and saying and pointing to "click here" for more info on that. Bravo!

I have watched this in the past. This time I caught the do not install USB chargers as stand-alone units get the ones that plug into a 12V car/truck outlet (also known as a cigarette lighter socket in my day.)
