This song reminds me of the night my wife passed away… She had a brain tumor we didn’t know about and randomly screamed “NO!” right as I was falling asleep. Then she was unresponsive. Ambulance took her. Then helicopter. Then after a 2 hour drive I get to see her in a medically induced coma and have to make the decision on if she stays or goes while the doctor says there’s no chance on life again without being a vegetable… So, remembering her words. What’s in her will. I had to do what she told me to do if it ever happened. She had cancer 6 times and plenty other things. So, she had a plan for everything. I get home after it all. Put our 10 month old son in his bed and turn on the record player… This song starts to play… it was the last thing we ever listened to together. Now it’s the one thing that makes me feel as though she’s still here next to me talking about our life plans and what we want for our son. Unfortunately, I don’t get to do that and he will never get to actually speak to his mother… Although somehow he remembers a handful of moments from when he was only 2-10 months old and I’ve caught him talking to her about 6 times now in the 5 years she’s been gone. I don’t really believe in an afterlife ever since the time I myself had to be brought back with paddles after almost 1 minute of 0 brain activity… I had a good amount of visions that seemed like years like a dream, but we’re merely seconds. Then it all went black. The brain certainly gives you a lot when it shuts off… It’s sad to think about never being with her again aside from the occasional dream she’s in. But, she truly was suffering for many years and I believe that she probably had what seemed to be a lifetime of memories in those moments before her brain shut off. This song will always remind me of her smiling and holding our son. That feeling I had of her presence when I was home alone and turned on that record. When I play this song… I know she’s no longer in pain and that’s the best gift she could’ve ever asked for. Here’s to Jenn , the most random person to show up in my life that was somehow exactly like me in every way and proposed to me because she wanted me to know she loved me more lol ❤ and here’s to songs like this keeping memories alive and keeping me attached to my love of making music. I only hope that one day I’ll have an album/song that means this much to someone as well.

Digital Hug to you brother. Sorry for your loss and pain. Keep it alive for your Son. She's your guiding light. Keep your head up. God Speed, God Bless..

@@Leetokee101 Much appreciated and I will! It’s crazy how much he looks like her. He has her hair, skin tone, facial features, and sense of humor lol Before he started school and was around me 24/7 it was rough at times. Especially since it was the first 3 years of her being gone, so the grieving was full effect. Him being in school definitely helps. Especially those days when I’m randomly emotional and don’t want to show it because he ends up emotional as well. My parents always taught me that even men need to cry sometimes and let it out. But, seeing your dad cry as a toddler isn’t very fun… Over time ive made it through many phases of grief and it’s very rare I get upset now, but she is always in my thought and always will. Also, I’m extremely thankful for how organized she was and how she always planned out life ahead of time. Luckily she did the same for death due to all her health problems and COMPLETELY FILLED 3 of those spiral notebooks with what to do if she is in a coma or passes. 1st thing stated was to not let her stay in a coma. It her biggest fear. But, then there’s just hundreds of pages on plans for our son and what she wants done with her ashes and all. It made it all much easier and still does. There’s 2 of those for our son too. When he turns 10 and when he turns 18. I haven’t read them. So, I definitely know how we planned on raising him and all. Unfortunately she doesn’t get to be around for it all, but I feel that somehow she’s going to be around in some way. Giving us both some extra energy while we create our music. 😇

@@LaceChaser I’m sorry for your loss. Can’t imagine what that must’ve felt like. That rush of emotions. Sorta like when I play this song in my headphones and I’m outside walking my dogs underneath a clear blue sky, and the thoughts start to pile up, more and more, until all of the sudden, I’m not sure of what, but I feel like I want to burst into a million pieces. And then, like an escape valve, the tears just start to flow out, turning my eyes into fountains with tears pooling around at the bottom of my sunglasses. You’re right. Sometimes it’s good to cry. And sometimes it’s okay to be afraid when it’s for the right reasons. I suffer from epilepsy. Ive hit my head falling down so many times I think it made me half clairvoyant. Some might call it intuition, or maybe even something like a prevision, but I know deep in my bones that one day I’m gonna get that big seizure, the one that comes to take me home to the place ive been looking for all my life; the place above the firmament that is up so high that can’t no bad ever get in, not even if it wanted to.

When I hear music like this, it saddens me to think how much bad it is going on around the world and how much pain is being caused around us while WE ALL sit back and do nothing. WE are killing us! There's so much beauty in this world for ALL to share. Eye and soul opening music

The voice actually belongs to John Dee Smith, who played Pvt. Train in the film. He sounds similar and IMDb strangely attributes the quote to both characters, but you can use the subtitles on the DVD to see who's actually speaking. One of my favorite films and I always thought it was Caviezel too, until somebody pointed this out to me years ago in a comment.

On the day before I die. You were Awesome Michael. You had your shitty moments and you weren't always the life of the party. But you were unique, you had excellent observation skills and you could've been something. Life dealt you a shitty hand. And if the paths you chose led you to this moment, and it's on you. Then so be it. Take it well. And Die in peace.

Man, I don't often enjoy these homemade music videos, but wow man, you really have an eye for this stuff. The editing, the scenes, everything perfectly portrays what I would think a music video for this should look like. I think it's because EitS fan's just... understand the nature of beauty in nothing, that there still is beauty. Life when looked at, at it's very simplest, very nothingness, still contains so much beauty. Great job man.

@shnil Thanks for the input, really appreciate it. The speeding effect was pretty simple: Lens was fully open (don't remember the stop, whatever the max on GL2s are), let it run for some 15 minutes, and then sped it up in post. The blurring was an effect in Premiere 2.0, though I don't remember which.

Thank you. The shaky shots were absolutely intended, particularly in the opening shots where there should be a sense of unease. It also gives the frame a small amount of movement, which where appropriate, adds a POV sort of feel. I felt there were enough tripod shots (I have two tripods, actually; and I used both for this) to balance things out.
