The only thing I can tell you is here on Chicago's Southside, Pontiac was a Very Popular brand in the latter third of the 20th century and it carried over. Torrents were Everywhere! But road salt and lack of maintenance are killing them fast.😊

The torrent had slightly better styling than the equinox and had nicer seats but the engines were trash in them. I had 2 of them blow up on me. One when I was cruising 70 down the interstate another when I started it up in the morning. Both had barely over 100k on them. They could’ve put the 3800 in these and I wouldn’t care which one I got because it would be a rock solid suv

As someone who owns an 2008 XL7 with the 3.6 but the 5 speed Aisin trans like in this (vs the 6 speed 09's XL7's and all 3.6 Torrents and Equinoxes got), and its interesting seeing your thoughts on the trans as its one of my favorite aspects of the car, I dont wanna info dump in the comments like some deranged armchair mechanic but fluid quality and driving habits really makes a difference on these Aisin transmissions, because lazy and meh is not what someone should be using to describe an AF33 5 Speed. in mine its amazing granted it could also be unique Suzuki TCM software and or the fact its paired to a different AWD and a 3.6 not a 3.4 which makes signifigantly more power.

I drove Dom's car to work once or twice when the Volvo was dead. It's a complete and total shitbox... But a functional shitbox. So, perfect first car like you said. And, it's bankruptcy era GM which means parts aren't unobtanium.

I have a 2008 torrent I love my car the only problem I have is that I live in Pennsylvania and it has California emissions iam waiting for gm to send a caliber converter because the garage put two in and my engine light won't turn off there is nothing wrong with the car is that California stupid emissions
