Awesome piece of kit. I've had one for two years and it's brilliant. Haven't had to deploy it yet (fortunately!) but I wear it everywhere I go on the bike under a Klim Induction jacket which is a great jacket for hot weather riding here in Australia. Klim stuff isn't the cheapest but the quality is well worth the investment.

Looks great, many advantages - supposedly fits under any motorcycle jacket and being tetherless works wonders. Just a bit on the fence as it carries its own backprotector, but it's CE lv1 and not CE Lv2 as the one in my jacket so kinda switching that out for a lower one. Biggest con, however, might be temperature on hot days; this might obstruct a lot of airflow and result in quite a sweaty ride - idk.. Following up on this

Yes, the features sure outweigh the benefits... The CE level 1 back protecor does not sit against your back once deployed but gets pushed about 5 inches away from your back creating an air space. I think that "cushion" would be safer than a CELv2 against your back... Just a thought... Airflow is a huge factor. The vest is all mesh... but it still has multiple layers and can't be that cool. Thanks for watching! I am looking forward to testing it in the field by literally falling over in a field at "speed" to see how it acts / reacts. We shall see!

@@manybikes Yes indeed - did not think of the "cushioning effect" - makes total sense. Of all the airbags out there, this one seems to be the 'best' in terms of convenience (below jacket, no leash, fast deployment) P.s.: hope you have a bunch of CO2 cartridges because that testing might become expensive, very fast :P

I use a hit air - good to see others get in the game especially a names like Klim and RST. I see advantages to tether-less, but this does not cover the ribs - would that have been hard to accomplish? The only other disadvantage might be airflow. The spidery hit air over jacket vest allows air in for those hot days - this looks warmer - but OTH you avoid the dreaded geek factor. Good to have more choices and the AI component sounds great, as does the ability for the user to repack and re-arm. Lots of good things here.

Thanks for watching! Great questions. I think the ribs are "open" as if they were covered your arms would get pushed out and could cause safety issues. Typically when a rider crashes they go into the fetal position and the arms tuck to the side covering the rib area. Wearing a Helite vest off-road I was once ripped off the bike by a tree branch... that would not have happened if it was under my jacket. I like this under the the jacket idea way better!

@@manybikes The problem is that the ribs are generally broken by the elbows being driven into the body. Sort of nit picking though as anyone choosing this or others will have a lot of protection. I'll bear in mind your experience with the helite. I don't do much off road - mostly maintained dirt - but good to keep in mind.

Thanks for an informative video! I think this is the next level of protection for an adventure rider like myself. I have been using a Leatt neckbrake and D30 Evo Pro Xt in a KTM Rally jacket or Klim Transverse jacket. This has been my go to gear for years. This technology advanced gear seems reasonably priced compared to above gear, but I question what will set it off. Like every slow speed fall or drop over that is common off roading on the 950 or 1190R. Look forward to some testing!

Yes, I have the same concerns. KLIM says it is recommended for "touring riders" not off-road riders. But... I really do want to go fall over a bit and test "what exactly" sets it off... Stay tuned... I will have a sample unit to test and to fall over increasingly fast to see when it does deploy. That should be fun... - Kyle

Looks good, but I do a lot of mountain riding where the GPS signal can be lost. If this vest looses GPS would it then fail to deploy? And will it deploy in the event of a rear impact whilst queueing in traffic? And also a low or high side? There's lots of info regarding this on other vests, but not much on these facts as I could find on the web. Hope you can get the info for us? Thanks

Thanks for your inquiries. The vest had GPS but does not rely on it for deployment. Deployment is handed by the accelerometer or brain that monitors in milliseconds. The air bag will deploy for accidents in all directions: front, rear, high side & lowside alike. I’ll reach out to Klim for the other questions. Thanks for watching! - Kyle

I've looked a lot at the alpine stars and although it covers the shoulders, it doesn't seem to support the neck/head. Although as yet not a single review has tested it with a helmet on.... I'm sure you'll correct that one for us :-) Also, it seems to ride up much higher, and offer far less protection to the abdomen and lower back. I don't mind sacrificing some shoulder protection for better neck and trunk coverage.

Vest itself is $399 but then you need to rent the brain and the cartridge is just less than $100 per inflation - from what we have been lead believe. BUT... we have been told that they are not hitting US Soil until March now... and I am pretty sure prices will change too. We will see... Thanks for watching!

Pricing here (Belgium) is as follows: 399.90 EUR (incl. VAT) for the vest itself Then option 1: monthly fee 12 EUR/month OR 120 EUR / year. With this you get service updates, mobile app, unlimited warranty, cancelation any time, VIPservice (new 'brain' within 72hrs whenever yours has an issue), new generation brain upgrade when available. BUYoption after 3 consecutive years for 99 EUR Option 2: buying the brain for 399 EUR, which incl. service updates, mobile app, 2year warranty, no VIP, no new gen. brain update Unless I'm missing something, it feels like the better way to go is (at least now it's still highly developed): go for option 1 and when you buy it after 3 years it may be slightly more expensive in total but you'll at least end up with the very latest 'brain' and updates and still have 2 years warranty on top Product activation needs to happen within 48hrs after acquisition, otherwise it needs to be activated by the fabricant at additional costs

Been riding with this jacket for 2 years now not deployed yet and hope I don't ever but it's comfortable and yes hot in an Australian summer but I'm willing to put up with being hot than being dead as in Australia every car is out to kill you

And if you don't pay the monthly subscription fee your vest doesn't work. That is just theft. You already paid for it up front but they still expect you to rent it from them. I'm really getting tired of the companies that do this and the people who are dumb enough to think its okay for the company to do this. It would be different if you didn't have to pay to have it inspected or fixed as a result of the rental fee but no... they also charge you a few hundred dollars plus shipping every time you have to have it inspected because the bag goes off. Oh did I mention they and other airbag companies say you should have it inspected annually just in case.

Looks like a great job. But would rather a vest with a pull cord. Just due to the fact that electronics can go into fault and dont need that if you are falling off.

There really is no point in still using a lanyard. It is old school and it is to slow in reaction anyway. I use a IXON IX-airbag U03 since may2019. It has In&Motion electronics on board. brands like Held, Furygan,Klim,RST,Ixon are using the same hard and software. It has been tested for years now on the street and in MotoGP on track. Every user of this software shares its riding data and updates are done over WIFI ( about 3 times a year) so algorithmes are getting really refined with millions of km data and already a lot of deployments. If you do not trust its electronics today, you should not drive a car or enter a plane either. In case of a clash it is deployed before you leave the saddle over your handlebar. A mecanical airbag can never do that. The newest update is a cooperation with an app called Liberty Driver. In case of a deployment, your airbagvest will use your phone to make an emergency call and send your GPS coordinats to emergency services incase you are unable to answer back.

This is quite stupid! What will you do if the battery dies or a subscription is delayed for any reasons? Or an update is full of bugs? These safety things should be simple as a stick and cheap as dust. Otherwise it is only an expensive something full of electronic gadgets probe to fail! And that subscription model is the greatest idiocracy I have ever seen!

I think the idea of the vest is brilliant. That being said, there should not be a subscription and the battery should be able to be purchased off the shelf of any gas station. Simple is better. Check out Helite!
