Egals argument about Partey and Jorginho leaving falls flat on its face. It's the whole reason we bought Rices, so to get Zubimendi now makes no sense. What are we going to do with Rice. He's not a good #8 and as a #6, he is not good enough at ball progression that's why Partey is playing the #6. The only way I see this signing making sense is if we go to a double pivot with Odegaard as a 10 instead of a R8. This would mean a huge change in Arteta's philosophy. With Saka out and Jesus out for the season as well and likely done playing football, this signing makes no sense. It's not what we need. The player is good, but the timing is bad as we need players now. The whole process for deciding what we need seems broken, we have needed a striker since Aubamyang was sold. They always seem to be a step behind ,always leaving us a couple of players short. It's not an Arteta problem it's a management issue that involves everyone in player acquisitions. Egal has also just destroyed his own argued bring up how Arteta got a club record about of goals out of these player and now they can't even hit the net with a shot. He has destroyed this club with his style that was such a failure last season. No decent manager would have gone back to that style. As for Liverpool not signing anyone that is a testament to how good their signings were in the past. Our summer was a bloody disaster where we didn't buy the cover we needed and we still after 3 years not bought a proper striker. For me right now we need a keeper , CB cover, RB cover, RW cover, LW, RW, cover and 2 strikers to replace Havertz and Jesus. That's 8 player and you expect me to be excited about get a new 6 for next season. Yes we have Nwaneri but he's hardly played and is already out with injury so he's suspect. Skelly could be good but he is young and Not a sure thing, especially with this manager where players seem to regress under him.
