Chelsea was one of the most successful clubs in the world until the owner was forced to sell the club, so yeah the standards high, sorry not sorry. The sporting directors under Roman made plenty of mistakes too, just in case Chelsea fans don’t remember. The current sporting directors got Palmer, Sancho and Felix for 100mil combined, so they haven’t been horrible, they just missed out on a striker and goalie ha Every top 6 team would spend around a billion if they were buying a completely new squad, not just the starting 11. If Chelsea had been of accused of what Man City has been accused of and denied requests for the PFA to look at their books, they would’ve been relegated immediately and stripped of their trophies. Also, Mah is acting like Leicester City didn’t win the league 10 years ago. Maresca didn’t have to address the media that way, could’ve just said, anything is possible. One of the main reasons Chelsea was so good in the past was because of the elite managers.

I so agree with the lady. A leader should instill that extra motivation and positive energy that takes you beyond and attempts to get you over the line. Saying that Chelsea is not good enough motivates the opposition and lessens the requirement. Maresca now has more pressure on his back and it's all down to his own making. Virtually all ex-players, managers and non Chelsea pundits were saying Chelsea were in a title race. This was based on performance regardless of inexperience.

This comes across as standards vs reality. She's right about the expectations but wrong about what to expect from us as we are now. Her comments about coaching headers just because people are tall makes no sense. there are some aspects of a skill you can coach but only to a certain level. when it comes to headers I always think of jota. the dude is 5ft 8 and scores loads of headers. you can't coach everyone to be that good at a) heading and b) timing and c) identifying the spaces. One of things very noticeable about jackson when they were going through all his stats data when he arrived was his heading was very poor. I don't tihnk i've ever seen palmer head anything in the box...although mind you he's more likley to be the one of our players delivering the ball. I'd have to side with Matisse with this one. Any talk of us being in the title race at all this season is dumb. For me, my expectations are UCL qualification, which i believe finishing in top 5 will gurantee. Anything else is a bonus. If we get it, then i'll have higher expectations next season however that will be based on who comes in the summer. if we go into next season with sanchez as no.1, no additional midfielders as well as another striker at a level above jackson, we ain't winning anything.
