During the negative exponent rule, why did you add the Z to numerator, not the denominator?
@Andresseus4 жыл бұрын
At 2:00 how would some one intuitively know that the "2" has a "1" as a power/exponent? Because since I don't see an exponent, my mind rationalizes that there is "0" exponents. But yet, you put "1". why?
@kyle10864 жыл бұрын
Because 2 to the power of 1 =2 (2x1=2). It's just a way to visualize how to distribute the exponent outside of the parenthesis and remember to put it onto the 2 as some people forget as he said. (If a number has no exponent, it has a exponent of 1 as any number times 1 is always the same.
@Andresseus4 жыл бұрын
@@kyle1086 thanks for the input, the comment section is full of lost prayers and questions. So only in context of the "cube" outside of the parenthesis it manifests a "1" power to ALL stand alone numbers. Otherwise, without the parenthesis and a cube, it just be a regular stand alone number.

I have a very serious question: x^m^n is not equal to (x^m)^n equals to x^(m*n)? To extrapolate, is not the same x^a^b^c^d^... as x^(a*b*c*d*...)?
@justabunga14 жыл бұрын
It’s hard to tell without the use of parentheses. Does x^m^n means (x^m)^n=x^(mn) or x^(m^n)? We can’t tell.

Gotta love getting one day to learn this and get thrown a test and have no clue how to do it. then your whole class fails the test and you have to do a retest with no extra help and the problems are like 5 times harder than every explanation vid on Yt. 😭
@TheFansOfFictionАй бұрын
Can you explain if there are exceptions to the power rule? I saw another video criticizing the way this is taught, with the example that [(-1)^2]^3/2 /= (-1)^3, but he never explained _why,_ just ranted for 12 minutes to advertise his tutoring company.
@MariosMathTutoringАй бұрын
Interesting question….in the problem you mentioned if you follow the order of operations working from the innermost parenthesis outward then you would end up with positive 1.
@TheFansOfFictionАй бұрын
@MariosMathTutoring yes, but using the power rule, you would get (-1)^3, which is the problem.

There’s a restriction when raising to the 0 power. The base cannot be 0. The video here should say any non-zero number raised to the 0 power is always equal to 1. 0^0 is indeterminate.
